Slow&Heavy Plie Squat Question

Hi Cathe and the educated crowd,
Is there a reason for the doing the plie squats with a heavy dumbell instead of a barbell. I don't have a dumbell that heavy and was wondering if a barbell would give the same results or is there something special about the way the weight is distributed when holding the dumbell that makes this preferable to a barbell. You don't want to know what I was doing to try to approximate the dumbell method. PS- I think the SH series is awesome.:)
 
I have used 2 2o pound dumbells for this, but I prefer to use the barbell. I like the barbell on the shoulders on all plie squats. I do not even like to hold it in front of the shoulders as she shows in some videos. It seems to work for me and I can also go heavier.
 
Hi Cathy! You can use your barbell in place of the 40# db. There's really no difference; just variety. Kathy:D
