IMO, they are worked hard in Pure Strength and in Leaner Legs.
In Pure Strength, she shows a few different ways to do them. With a 2x4 board, one-legged, seated. I try to vary it when I do them.
I think you will like S&H and dedicated calf work.
I sometimes use the edge of my step but not everyone's floor or carpet will allow that. I hang my heels down off the back edge to increase the range of motion, like in Pure Strength.
