Slipping Step..:(

I have the 2010 Step Reebok for about 2 months. The mat surface doesn’t seem to be non-skid at all. I can’t do an entire step DVD without sometimes slipping or because of being afraid to slip I have to modify all the time..I use a normal Reebok fitness shoe.
Has anyone experienced the same problem? Is this normal?
Do I have to clean the surface regularly? If so, what should I use to clean?

Thanks

Marta

I use tape

I have a club step and use no risers and I use packaging tape so the step doesn't slide.

Yes, I had the same exact problem. I ended up ditching it for the club step.

But if you want to go for a less expensive option, you can probably pick up some self-adhesive rubber at Home Depot, cut small pieces & put them on the bottom of the risers.

My old reebok step is still sticky, even though I now use a circuit step (its smaller and fits my small room better.) I don't think it should be so smooth you can't stay on it.

I'm confused. Is your step sliding on the floor (i.e. stepping on a moving target?) or is your foot sliding uncontrollably on the top of the step? (i.e. your foot is sliding on ice?)

From your post, I thought it was the latter, but the suggestions made address the former.

I was refering to my foot sliding on the top of the step...the other problem I also have but I usually manage to clean them...

I questioned Reebok about this and this was the answer I got:

"Hello Marta,

I would suggest using simple green or a light mixture of dishsoap and water. I would clean it at leat once every 6 weeks or so."

Can someone explain what "simple green" is?

Thanks

I found that many cleaning products left some sort of residue that made my step slip to the point I was afraid of using it. Using a vinegar and water solution to clean the floor, and wipe the bottom of the risers as well as the bottom of the shoes made it slip free.
