Slim Series Rotation

Hey everybody,

I have a question for anybody that has done slim series. I have been exercising with Cathe for year. I really want to lean out and be toned for this summer (going to Jamaica in May and my 30th b-day in July...aaaaaaaggggggghhhhhh). I don't have alot of weight to lose, maybe like 5 lbs. Anyway, my mom is getting me slim series for x-mas and I was hoping to hear some ideas on a rotation. I am a cardio queen and I can't live without it so I was thinking of doing the following;

Day one: am shape it up and pm CTX cardio
Day two : am Firm it up and pm 60 min run
Day three: am mix it up and pm CTX Cardio
Day four: am tone it up and pm 60 min run
Day five: am cool it off and pm MIC or IMAX
Day six: MIC Hi/lo and Tear it up
day seven REST!!

I haven't even seen them yet so I don't know if this rotation will kill me but I am quite determined. Plus I am gonna switch whenever we get HArdcore!!

Thanks in advance

I haven't done these, but from what I here they are pretty intense and long workouts on there own, so I'm not sure you would want to do anything else with it, but I guess you could try it out.

I think the review on videofitness said something like "you have to be advanced to do these workouts or they might kill you".

I'm new to Cathe workouts but I did a Slim Series rotation back in the spring. Most of the workouts do not much have much cardio so I think you will be okay with adding some cardio in the evening. However, Tear It Up is a pretty intense workout so I'm not sure if you would want to pair it up with MIC. I don't have MIC but I wouldn't want to do it on the same day at Tear It Up (based on what I've read about MIC). IMO, Tear It Up has the most cardio of the SS workouts. Debbie Siebers has a version of the Terminators in it.

I would recommend alternating SS days with cardio days. I've done a SS rotation before, and the workouts are similar enough that they could lead to overtraining (part of their "magic" is that they are at least bordering on overtraining, so there is no way to build muscle), and it can get pretty boring to do similar workouts every day (especially if you use their music...blah!).

Thanks for all your input!!! I like the idea of maybe alternating. I am not planning on doing them for long periods of time. Just as short breaks from Cathe. I am hoping that I will not be doing it for more then 4 weeks and hardcore will be here. I gain muscle very easily but I like lifting heavy too, so I want to alternate something like this with Cathe. Any more input is very welcome. tHANKS and have a merry christmas

Hi Jennefit,

I bought Slim Series since you posted it. I was wondering how your rotation was going and how you like it. I think I'm gonna start them in a few weeks after I do my current rotation for a while.

Are you able to tac on all that cardio? That is my main concern about Slim Series.

Hi

I'm doing SS right now and getting great results.

Although none of the dvds contain 'pure' cardio, the workouts do elevate your heart-rate and so you'll be getting a great workout.

Two of the six dvds are 73mins long so you'll probably find you won't want to add cardio on those days (especially the first week or so as you get used to them).

Looks like you've had the same idea as me - swapping between SS and Hardcore. If you need some support, come over to the SS forums - I've got a thread over there and you're more than welcome (aka Mrs Clegg over there).

Get ready for all the squats and lunges you can take :) - let me know how you get on,

Andrea

Hey,

I did the slim series for one week..I just don't feel like I am getting the intensity that I get with CAthe. However, I am going to start it again and make myself do them. When I did do it I did tack on cardio. I really need cardio for fat loss and I don't think there is enough. I am doing one week of hard core cardio next week and them slim series until hardcore gets here. I am going to do the long workouts on the weekend with cardio and then the rest during the week. I really think I will see some results if I can stick to it but I just love Cathe.
