Slim Series details please

You can read more on this at www.videofitness.com , do a search for some past replies!
I read the reviews which were mostly thumbs up, I'll let you know, I caved in and just bought them. I used a link there and got the set for 39.95 plus shipping!
I seen a few people from cathe's reply so I'm sure they'll give you a quicker update!
I'll still let you know when I checked them out!;-)

I caved and just ordered them too. I hope they are good.(fingers crossed)
People keep saying how it has thinned out their lower bodies, this is what attracted me.
There are a set of 6 workouts. They are high rep. and low weights.
People seem to love the instructor, Debbie Seibers.

Here is a link for more info. www.beachbody.com

They are low rep/high wt workouts. IMO, it's necessary to do the 5 workouts as a rotation. I lost a size in 4.5 weeks. I didn't measure, but my friend just finished her first month and lost several inches. 2 3/4 of which were in her waist!

If you expect Cathe-like workouts, you'll be disappointed. If you like variety and you're willing to put up with some quirks, then get these. They produce results.:7

Francine...Where did you get the $39.95 plus shipping price? I was looking over at Videofitness and could not find it?

Please post the link!!! }(

Thank you!!!!

Blessings from our home to yours...Runathon

RE: The proper Link

Just adding

There are lots of comments about the music, its not Imax 2 but its okay. Light weights lots of reps very little equipment needed great instructor personally I do additional cardio (between 25-30 mins)and ab work (Cathe from IS series, Ab Hits and/or KV Streamline Fitness).

I was almost ready to order these..............BUT, when I went to Collage Video and tried to locate these, this is what it said:

"We have chosen not to carry the Power 90 product. While the actual workouts are fine, The Power 90 System is primarily focused on their "fat-burning" dietary supplements. And Collage is not a big believer in the benefits of supplements."

I don't know.....I'm not sure now.

Hollie

Maybe Collage could ONLY carry them if they also sold their supplements, so they didn't want to do that. On the other hand, Collage doesn't carry Cathe, either, so whatever!

You don't have to take the supplements--I don't think you even have to buy them. I may be completely wrong, since I am not remotely interested in ordering these workouts and therefore haven't checked :)Any threads I've read over at VF haven't talked about supplements, just the workouts...

I just ordered the series, and you don't have to buy the supplements-BUT-they keep trying to sell them to you on screen after screen until you reach the final checkout page! You just have to keep pushing the "no" button repeatedly. I think I escaped with just the DVDs. I will post a review once I get them and do them! I am interested in some variety so I hope they are good.
Also the Power 90 system is a different set of videos I think, by the same Beachbody.com website. I think Collage is having trouble keeping up with all the new video/DVD products coming out lately. I do try to order from them when possible because they ship to my house in just 2 days and always back up the product.

Francine, thank you for that link. I will still be very interested in what the Cathe girls have to say about this series as well. :)

I have to disagree with Collage. I bought Power 90 and Slim Series. They do not force you to buy their supplements but rather give you an option on whether to include it with your purchase. I am not surprised since it's part of their marketing strategy. What's important is the results of the Power 90 and from what my friend experienced, I am sold. It is boring especially if you like Cathe and enjoy complex choreography. But if you really want to lose weight then give yourself a couple of months. My friend did! She lost 30 lbs in 3 months but she followed the workout schedule and healthy diet to the max. No supplements was used. That is why I ordered. I have seen living proof that it works. I still have yet to try Slim Series but I have read a lot of rave reviews in videofitness.com. Moreover, people say it's more intense than Power 90.

If you really want sound advice, go to videofitness and the firm yaya forums. I don't know who answers the questions in Ask Collage forums but some responses are not very impressive and not professional. So IMHO, the best forums for me are Videofitness, The Firm Yaya Forums, and even Kathy Smith at Ivillage Forums (she personally answers some of your Qs and gives lengthy responses at that - not one liners)

I got the Slim Series. I am on my fourth week. I don't ever do Cool It Off, but I do all of the others in the order of the Slimming Rotation that is supposed to just last four weeks. I look slimmer, but I haven't actually lost any inches and I didn't want to lose any weight. They are a great way to shake up your routine if you are stuck in a rut. I still always add at least 30 minutes cardio with them (except Tear It Up). My problem is....I have three more of them to go this week and it is sooo hard to finish the rotation because I am sooo missing my Cathe's. I want to do the Pyramids so bad. Actually, any of her strength tapes. (have still been doing her cardio). But don't get me wrong, I love the SS and I think they are great. It is just hard to stick to that rotation for so long after being used to Cathe, etc. They are definitely worth getting and I would recommend them for breaking a plateau and for a change of pace!
(BTW I really like Debbie S. as an instructor. Poor thing, I yell at her during certain moves as much as I yell at Cathe!).

Oh, and I did not get the supplements!

Linda

Yes, I know you don't "have" to buy the supps. And I've read all of the reviews at videofitness, but I want to know what serious Catheites think of these tapes. So far, the Slim Series sound pretty decent. I'll be watching this thread for even more Cathe girls to chime in if/when they get the series. :D :D :D

A big Cathe fan and....

I've been doing this series (and Lotte Berk) for 3 weeks. I don't follow any set plan, just try to do 2 or 3 of them a week, in between I do an aerobic workout or power walk. While I don't have any weight to lose, I do feel my upper body is getting quite toned, which suprises me because I only use 3,5 and 8 lb weights. I'll be interested to see how my Cathe workouts will feel after I get done with this rotation. It's all light weight/hi reps so if you don't like Power Hour or ME, I'd skip these workouts. My heart rate doesn't stay up during the entire workout because of the floor work, but I like the floor work. Deb includes a lot of strengthening exercises for the muscles that surround your knees, which is important if you like Cathe's stepping! She also does a lot of waist exercises, which you don't see to often in other workouts. All in all, I find these enjoyable. I'm suprised they don't bore me because they're very basic, but I like Deb's personality. The music is pretty bad, and some of the background exercisers have terrible form. I also don't think Deb's form is all that great when she does deadlifts and shoulder work either, but I'm advanced enought to know what I should do and shouldn't, and the workouts are easily modified. These are nice low impact, total body workouts. But, IMO they're not for beginners!

RE: A big Cathe fan and....

My opinion on the difference is that Slim in 6 was the first batch out from Debbie that is focused more on beginners/intermediates and gives a foundation for beginners to build on. Her tapes are to be done for 2 weeks at a time then you move up to the next tape and then there was a maintainence tape( Keep it up) and her latest batch is for those who mastered the slim in 6 and are ready to kick it up with workouts that are now ready to be sequenced in a rotation for best results! From what I hear people are getting results, These are more intermediate and for experienced exercisers, notice I didn't say advanced because I don't have them yet and I know for sure they won't be Cathe advanced, but I'm actually looking forward to using these as my decondition phase comes up, Leaving my high intensity training on hold(can't stay there forever) as I just go back to basics for awhile! It will be a nice change of pace! I'll report back when I completed a full week!(still didn't get them yet!)
