I love the Slim Series! Debbie is one of my favorite instructors. I usually do a Slim rotation between Cathe breaks, where I do a Slim workout one day and a cardio workout the next. I don't consider the SS to be cardio workouts, although they claim to be. I'm thinking now about doing a Cathe/Slim rotation where I go heavy on the weights with Cathe for 2 days, and that third day of weight training do a SS workout. I think this will benefit both my fast and slow muscle fibers, and I'm hoping to see more definition. IMO, the SS is the complete opposite of a Cathe workout. Sure, Cathe has some hi-rep/low-weight workouts, but I use heavier weights when I do PH or ME than when I do Tone it Up or Mix it Up. Five pounds is the max I can use on those workouts! I also like the fact that, unlike the Firm and Cathe, there is very little equipment changes in the SS. Somedays I'm just too lazy to drag all my equipment upstairs to my family room, where we have our DVD player, so I pick a Slim workout instead!
The only thing that bugs me about the SS is the background exercisers! There are a couple who I find too painful to look at! Their form is terrible and they completely ignore Debbie's attempts to correct them.
I find this series tough, almost as tough as Cathe, and a nice change of pace. Some people think they are boring, but IMO, if you like the Firm, you'll like SS. I should add that some of the rotations in their book are really grueling and I suffered serious burnout from the "I bought them all and damn I'm going to use them" rotation. It took me awhile to love exercise again after that one!
