Skinny Jeans

Okay you fashion foward people. Are skinny jeans only for skinny women? I love the look of the skinny jean tucked into boots but I don't think I can pull it off. I'm short and I mean short 5 foot tall and my legs are athletic and muscular. I've got man calves too, . they are just so muscular so that might make things even worse. Thanks everyone!

Its my personal opinion, that VERY few women look good in skinny jeans. I am not one of them. You pretty much have to have the body of a fashion model (which is not a look I find attractive) or they don't look right. Other wise you look like little stick legs with a a$$ and belly on top. Not cute. I would stay away from them. They don't look right on anyone with hips/thighs, etc. Just my opinion. Try on a few pairs and see what they look like on you.

Well, . . Nan, . .not quite the look I was looking for. :) I guess I could try some on, but me and the fitting room have a bit of a hate-hate relationship. I saw them at Max Studio and the fitting rooms are evil. To prevent shop lifting they put the mirrors on the outside of the fitting room door forcing you to go out to see what they look like on and of course everyone looks at you when you come out. :(

I pretty much agree with this - I think it's cute on women who are proportionally built, or just slim, but when you have a J-Lo-like bootay like me, it doesn't look great.

I agree with spyrosmom! I as well am short and stocky! (5'3"). I also have those monster calves! But I love em! I get quite a bit of compliments on how nice my legs look anyhow!

I think naming a pair of jeans under the "skinny" term just messes with womens heads in a bad way and frankly, just shouldn't be called "skinny jeans". Skinny's not really where anyone should want to aspire to.

here I go again, rantin' and ravin' sorry ladies...I'll cool it, teehee:eek:

Well, I'm on the tall side with long legs, skinny calves, and not much of a butt...and I still don't like the look of skinny jeans on me. There's just something about them. I believe on What Not To Wear, they referred to it as the ice cream cone look.

Anywho, that must have stuck in my head because I can't stand them on me. I much prefer the look of straight leg, boot leg, and flares. They make me look very long and lean.

To specifically answer your question, I think skinny jeans are for chicks who are still livin' in the 80s. :p But the only way you'll know is if you go ahead and try them on. Many times I'll see something that looks horrible on the hanger, yet when I try it on, it fits beautifully. So give it a go.

I wear skinny jeans all the time! Way easier to tuck into a great pair of boots without a lot of extra fabric bunching up. And the skinny refers to the size of the leg opening-they're pretty narrow-like 13" or so. I think with the right top, they can look good on a lot of different figures, body types. My cousin is around 112#, 4'11" on a good day with a J-Lo booty and athletic thighs and she looks awesome in them! To each his own, right?

not particularly my style but i agree with klaudia. if you know how to pair it right it could look good. as with anything. then again i am more relaxed fit, flair bottoms, or boot cut gal b/c i think it looks good for me and its comfy. i don't see skinny jeans for ME being comfy or flattering for me.

I'm fairly short also. My legs are not bulky and I don't have big hips but definitely have a bubble butt. I prefer straight leg jeans as opposed to skinny. I think its a good compromise for us shorter gals.

I will agree with the (so far) majority on this one. I don't think "skinny jeans" are for everyone. Even worse than women wearing them is when guys wear them. AAAACCCKKK!!!

My DS who is 15 and 5'5'' 128lbs looks great in the skinny straight jean. I'd rather he wear those then the ones that are falling down to his knees!

But for me no way! I too am only 5' and I have a thicker bottom half. They just wouldn't look right on me nor would they be comfy.JMO

I got great skinny jeans at Old Navy ($19) and I LOVE them. I want another pair because I am so in love with them. I'm 5'3 and have a butt and muscular but not large legs. I think they look great. You have to be the judge though. The jeans are not super tight on me though and they do stretch. But they have the tapered skinny leg.

Also, if you do the skinny leg jeans, try and find a dark wash...that's what I did...makes all the difference.

I have 2 DD one is short with boody like J-lo and I don't like how she look on the skinny jeans, but me other one DD she is tall and has long legs and she looks great, For me I don't think so, I've try them before and my DD's like how I Look but I'm just like the majority here that's not for everyone.
Is not only body is AGE too:confused::eek:.
That's what I think:p!

It depends. I think that curvy gals can look good in them, but it's better if the curves are in the rear, and not the thighs. I think being bigger is ok, but not flabby. If you notice the links, the ladies pictured aren't stick skinny, but they don't have saddlebags, either.

I love skinny jeans! I think they look great on many people. Depends a lot on specific body build and what you pair them with on top. I like nothing better than a pair of skinny jeans, a nice fitted shirt, and a black or grey blazer on top. Anyway, to each his own :) I think the only thing you can really do is try on a lot of different pairs, different brands, and see what you think of them on you specifically. Many of the major magazines like Glamour or Lucky show photos nearly every month showing what works well with them. BTW I don't think age has anything to do with it. There was a recent photo of Lauren Hutton - in her 60s - wearing skinny jeans - and she looked nothing but HOT.

This really helps thanks. I'm not curvy as Beyonce. My body type is more like this

Only thing is I'm shorter 5 feet tall and although I wish like heck my face looked like Charlize it does not. I think for shorter people it just might be harder to pull off. All the examples were of taller people. Gosh I hate being short.

You'd probably look great in skinny jeans. You should probably keep the color dark, and pair them with a nice wedge or platform rather than a ballet flat. Sometimes petite women can "get lost" in too much fabric, and a skinny jean worn correctly can help you to rediscover your legs and shape.
