SJP abs

I did the abs from SJP (taped from FitTV during the Cardioblast marathon) and I love it! I love the music! I'm pretty sure it's pilates inspired. I've never done pilates, but, now, I'd like to try it. Is there a pilates video that isn't too dry and has great music (in the likes of SJP)? I think I may fall asleep if the workout has a new-agey feel. (Nothing against new-age or relaxation music, but I'd like something upbeat.)

Thanks!

In case you haven't tried. Try posting this question over at videofitness.com readers forums. I know there are a lot of Pilates enthusiasts over there and Catheites too! You'll get a lot more responses/suggestions.

:)

The only Pilates tape that I have tried that doesn't put me to sleep in the Windsor Advanced Slimming workout. Mari does the usual moves, but much faster than a regular pilates workout. Makes the time fly by, and you feel like you've done something. I normally don't feel like I've gotten anything accomplished after Pilates. But I would suggest doing a regular boring training video first. If you can rent it at your local video store, do that. That way you aren't wasting your money on a workout that you'll do 2 maybe 3 times.

Melanie, Cathe has the best ab sections IMO. I have to concur with what Kathy02 said. I bought a couple pilates ab dvds and they aren't as fast paced as Cathe. I have Quick Fix Pilates Abs. I try to like it, but I can't get into it. I have to move a little quicker than that. I don't like to spend more than 10 min. at a time on abs and I have to feel it. Pilates, just ain't cuttin it for me! However, I do like Kari's Curl. It's 20 min. with some pilates. It's intense, fast moving and fun. So I guess I'm no help. :-( But Dani had a good suggestion. Also Collage has lots of reviews on pilates workouts. But if you don't like the slow movements, I don't think you'll have much to choose from. But others may be more helpful.

Melaine, I have been doing Pilates for a couple of years and your right, there are some dull workouts out there. Something by Karen Voight might hold your interest. Some movements have to be slow so they can be more controlled. Pilates will add alot to your strength. I see some childern in your post. It will also help with the pooch we women tend to carry around. Pilates has helped me maintain a decent looking mid-section for a woman w/3 kids. If you do get a workout you really like, let us know. I am always looking for something new. Thanks,Renee :)

melanie, I have to agree with Kathy on pilates if that is what you are after. I LOVE LOVE WINSOR ADVANCED BODY SLIMMING. I LOVE ALL THOSE TEASERS, A GREAT WORK OUT. I GOT several winsor and I love THEM ALL.

Cathe has great ab work outs I AGREE, but if pilates is what you want
check out collage video and check the reviews for advanced body slimming, I try and do it several times a week after a cathe cardio or weight tape.

GOOD LUCK, HAVE A GREAT EVENING.:) :) ;)

Thanks everyone for your replies! I thought about posting this question on VF, but I got lazy. I'll have to try the Winsor Slimming one. My abs are pretty strong considering I've had 3 kids. I don't have the post-pregnancy pooch, but I don't have the flattest abs. I'm still breastfeeding and I'm sure that has something to do with the extra fat my body is holding. I'm interested in trying pilates because I like the exercises, not just because I'm looking for a way to flatten my abs. I love how the body gets extended instead of being curled up in a crunch position. I can't really afford to buy a DVD right now. (I had to miss the Cathe presale!!!) I hope there is an iota of a chance that my local library carries exercise workouts via interlibrary lending.
