Six month challenge check-in

KayM

Cathlete
Hi folks! I thought I would join your six-month challenge. I thought seriously about it when Donna invited us, but still wanted to give myself a chance. Well now I have proven that I have no self-control with pudding in the house!

So, I'm giving up puddin' for 6 months. Not gonna buy any, not gonna eat any. Delicious as it is, I just can't control myself around it. I eat pudding like I USED to eat EVERYTHING - with complete abandon!

So today is Day 1 for me! I completely agree with Donna that this is just a bad habit, and if I can go six months without eating it, I will have broken the habit and won't even miss it anymore. I used to eat takeout food just about every day, and it's been so long since I've had that bad habit, it no longer occurs to me!

Let me know how you all are doing!

Kay

Good for you Kay! :)

Some people don't have to cut out a food item completely, but some of us do in order to gain control over "it" rather than being controlled "by it."

I cannot believe it's been 9 days (counting today) that I have been ice cream free, I'm missing it less and less. BUT, be warned, when you give up one sweet treat, your body WILL search for a substitute! I had an ugly moment last week with some donut holes, but I bounced back and I'm using Jello fat free pudding cups as my "sweets alternative." And it's working so far.
Have you ever tried the fat free pudding cups? They really are good to be fat free, and sometimes I go all out and scoop a T. of Cool Whip free on top and I think I have a mini sundae! :)
Suddenly that sounds so sad so I'll shut up now!

But good for you Kay! It will be difficult the first few days without them, but day by day you'll miss them less and less. But have some sort of "healthier" snack to turn to when you're really craving the pudding, OR ELSE! :)

Hi All,

So far, so good - despite having a pants week (pants are knickers in the UK) last week, AND putting up with TTOTM munchies, I have succeeded in not having take-aways for another week ! Yah-Hoo !!!

Nearly caved in though Sunday and Saturday night ! but I was STRONG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Luck Kay ! The first 2 weeks or so will be tough but hang in there, it can only get easier !

Anna :)

OMG, Donna, that is brilliant ! 9 days ! Wow ! :-wow
Ooo, let me work out mine, it is 11 days since I had my last curry take-away. Aren't we doing well ? :-jumpy !!!!!!!!

Donna, I am scared - 'OR ELSE !' - will you send round the 6 month challenge police ? LOL :D

Anna :)

Hi Everyone... I'm going to bow out of the 6 month challenge.

It's wierd but the moment I said that I was giving up ice cream it was all I could think about. There was a 1/2 gallon that had ice crystals on it 'cause it was in there for months but now its all I see when I open the freezer.

So, even though I still haven't had ice cream in over a week I am going to cut myself some slack. What works for me at this point in my journey is to focus on eating healthily and exercising.

I appreciate the jumpstart though..it gave me the extra kick in the butt to give up sugar which is fabulous.

I wish you all the best of success with your challenge!!
