LAST EDITED ON Oct-05-02 AT 08:32AM (Est)[p]I went to the concert last night, and I just don't have the right words to describe it, other than it was just incredible and unbelieveably cool. I was there with my 29 year old son who is a Paul freak, too, and knows the words to all his songs. When Paul sang, he harmonized with John's part.
He and his band (what a great bunch of guys, magnificent musicians, especially the drummer) sang for 3 hours, and the whole place went nuts. He did a whole lot of familiar stuff - lots from the Beatles, and one of the high points was "Live and Let Die" during which they had fire works (!) and explosions. He did a lot of solo stuff ( just him and his guitar or a piano), and I guess I didn't realize what a good guitarist he is. He did one number as a tribute to George which was "Something" done to the tune of a ukelele! Turns out George was a ukelele freak and would pass them out at parties and everyone would play them! Too cool! He sings all the songs in the original key (which is high to begin with), and he is aging really well (he's 60 now!)
I cried through most of it because I just couldn't believe it was real - I actually heard a real Beatle in person! It makes me tear up now just to think about it.
If any of you get the chance to see him, PLEASE do it! They are bringing out a CD and DVD of the concert tour, and I'm for sure going to get it.
"We love you, Paul, oh, yes we do!" Yeah, yeah, yeah!
