Silly hair question

I noticed tonight while watching "Everybody Loves Raymond" that she has her hair in a ponytail when she goes to bed. Then I remembered Murphy Brown used to do this, and I believe Suzanne Somers in some Sitcom. Why do they do this? Do you do this? Is this something my mother should have taught me and didn't?

I think it has something to do with keeping it tidy and knot-free after sleeping on it.

My mum used to make me wear pig tails to bed because my hair would be one huge tangled mess by the morning if she didnt, then it was all tears and screams trying to brush it

(and that was coming from my mother...... ha ha)

I put my long curly hair into a ponytail everynight for bed so I don't end up with one big knot and also to keep it out of my face.

Kathy:)

I also wear my hair in a ponytail when I go to sleep. I have acne prone skin, so if I don't pull it back I will break out.

I start off going to bed with a ponytail, then I take it out because it's uncomfy to sleep on.

Speaking of ponytails... Does anybody wear their hair in a ponytail in everyday life, instead of just for working out or sleeping? I have heard many fasion and beauty people say things like, "unless you are playing tennis DO NOT put your hair in a pony tail" I find myself putting my hair up in pony's and clips too often, but I don't want a short cut. Maybe I am too lazy to blowdry and style each day.

Lori, Lori...

I feel your pain, girl! I have short hair now but I had it shoulder length or longer for YEARS and would get so frustrated with it that it would be up in a ponytail 99% of the time! It just wasn't worth all of the effort to actually spend the time to blow it dry and all...to me, it didn't look good enough in the end for the time I would spend. So...after much fretting, I just up and cut it all off! lol Now I spend 5 mins on it and I'm out the door! I personally love it!

I heard that constant ponytails can cause thinning, balding at the hairline because of the constant tension on the hair...True? I don't know.

Have a great work out!

I wear mine up all day, but i don't ever sleep in a ponytail. my hair is strait and past my shoulders and all over the place when i sleep, but it never gets tangled while i sleep. i have heard leaving it in a ponytail while you sleep causes breakage...???
