Cathe am I the only one who can't seem to get up in that position?
I consider myself in pretty good shape and just can't get it?
Any suggestions to get better at it?

Hi Adriennesmitho! Don't be so hard on yourself:). These are definitely not easy exercises. Many students in my classes struggle with them too. To work your way up to the straight leg version, try the following:

a) Support yourself on your side the same way with the upper body, but the lower body should have both legs bent.

b) Once you get comfortable with that version, next try straightening the top leg only.

c) One you have mastered that, try straightening both legs but put one foot in front of the other to give you more stability.

Good Luck and please don't rush your progress!

Adriennesmitho:

You are definitely NOT the only one. It's impossible for me at this point, and I although I am overweight, I'm pretty strong and consider myself to be a high-intermediate, low-advanced exerciser. I'm going to try some of Cathe's modifications and try to work up to them.

Good luck to you in doing this, too!
Jez :)
