shuttle bus, other info

I can't find the info about where to go in the airport and which number to call for the shuttle bus. I thought there was something posted in the past about it - like a few years ago when I attended the Glassboro trip. It's been awhile since my last RT and I'm feeling super nervous!

Hey, Bethany! I found this from an earlier RT thread. Of course we no longer have brunch at the Diner so ignore that part. ;) When are you arriving?

II. Airport and Amtrak Station Shuttle Info
You are responsible for your own transportation to New Jersey and to the hotels. For those of you who are coming in via airplane or Amtrak train, we highly recommend Rapid Rover Shuttle service for your travels to and from the Philadelphia Airport, or to and from Philadelphia's 30th Street Amtrak Station.

Here’s their contact info:
Rapid Rover Phone: 1-856-428-1500 Rapid Rover Fax: 1-856-662-7979
Rapid Rover’s pricing varies depending upon your route (pick-up point and destination) and the number of people in your Rapid Rover vehicle. We recommend that you call to check for current pricing before your Road Trip travels.

Payment: Cash, VISA, MasterCard and American Express only. No personal checks. Quoted prices don’t include a tip for the driver – that’s at your discretion.

Rapid Rover will allow two pieces of luggage plus one carry-on item per person, and they’ll allow 1 to 2 extra pieces for a $2.00 surcharge for each. If you have more than two extra pieces, or you have bulky items, the driver has the right to charge you a higher luggage “carrying fee.”
See the next page for more detailed information on planning your use of Rapid Rover’s services.

Getting TO the Hotels OR TO Cathe’s Gym When You Arrive in Philadelphia:

1. If you’re flying into Philadelphia International Airport:
You do NOT need to make an advance reservation for transportation to the hotels from Philadelphia International Airport. Upon your arrival at the airport, retrieve your luggage and proceed to the ground transportation counter located in the baggage claim area. Dial 21 on any courtesy phone at that counter to reach the Rapid Rover dispatcher. They will send a shuttle, and your driver will arrive at curbside to pick you up within 20 minutes.

2. If you’re coming in via train to Philadelphia's 30th Street Amtrak Station:
Rapid Rover does not have vans waiting at the 30th Street Station, unlike the airport. Therefore, you DO need to call ahead if you’re coming into the 30th Street Amtrak Station. They ask that you call them at 856-428-1500 when your train reaches the last stop it will make before arriving at the 30th Street Station, or when you’re roughly 20 minutes outside Philly. This will allow Rapid Rover to send a shuttle driver to pick you up, so that you won’t have a long waiting time. Upon your arrival at the 30th Street Station, go to the 29th Street side of the building (facing the center of Philadelphia) and the driver will meet you there. This side of the building is less crowded, so it should be easier for you and the Rapid Rover shuttle driver to find each other.
Getting BACK to the Airport or the Amtrak Train Station When You Leave on Sunday:
On Sunday morning there will be Cathe bus service from the hotels to the gym for our sixth class at 7:00 a.m., and after class there will be bus service to Five Points Diner, site of our Farewell Brunch. The brunch will be over at approximately 11:00. There will then be Cathe bus service back to the hotels. Depending on your travel schedule, you’ll need to decide where you need to be picked up by Rapid Rover (i.e., at the hotels, at the gym or at the Five Points Diner). You may bring your luggage on the Cathe bus to the gym and then onward to the Diner, if need be. FYI, historically we’ve had 10+ Road Trippers picked up by Rapid Rover at the Diner.

You DO need to make a reservation 48 hours in advance for transportation from the hotels, gym or Diner back to Philadelphia International Airport or to the 30th Street Amtrak Station. Call Rapid Rover at 856-428-1500 to make your reservation. You will need to tell them where you’re being picked up the name, address and phone number of the place where you’re being picked up on Sunday, your flight or train information including name of airline and scheduled departure time, and a phone number where they can contact you all weekend.

Rhondalyn,
THANK YOU - You just helped ease some of my worries. I'm getting in to the airport at 10:30 AM on Friday. See you soon!!
