That was the title of the lead in to an article I found on newser titled 140 Pounds of Boring. The author talks about dieters who talk about nothing else but dieting.

Tell me what you think.

Now when she says dieters she means the ones who do gimmicky plans for like 10 days and then gain the weight back and do it over and over again. We've all been there, but I lost my weight by finally acknowledging that it is a lifestyle change. I honestly don't like to talk about my weight loss with people outside of fitness forums. People ask how I lost the weight, but they never really listen. I guess my answer is too sensible.

Oh my gosh! I havn't clicked on the link yet, but I DEFINATELY know how you feel when people ask about "How's the diet going" or "How much have you lost". It's seriously annoying and none of anyones business except who I tell. because for the most part, the poeple who ask don't care, or in my case...with my mother, she's "competitive" and she's ALWAYS asking how much I weigh or how my dieting is going just to serve her humiliating curiousity...

sorry, I totally vented, I hope you don't mind:eek::(

don't mind at all.

I have the opposite problem! No one ever notices when I lose weight! I know it shouldn't be about being recognized, but by golly, when I put so much effort into it, just one person noticing would be nice! Oh well, c'est la vie!

Fad diets do bug the you-know-what out of me though! It's easy to drop 5-15 pounds eating nothing but lettuce, but that's only good for the 2 weeks or so you can keep that up!

I do wish I could bring others with me on the clean eating and lifestyle change, but you can only lead a horse to water, so to speak! Without realizing it, one of my co-workers started watching what she ate a bit more when she saw some of the things I was eating for my snacks at work and how well its worked! So, I'll take the small success!

At my last job my clothes was practically falling off of me before anyone said anything. Their comment usually starts with "I've been meaning to tell you..."

Just this past weekend my little sister was stunned by my weight loss. Now I saw her in June and I was only about 6-7 pounds heavier than last weekend. I asked her if she hadn't noticed when we last saw each other and she said no. Oy!!

Yesterday, my friends husband commented on my weight loss. He said he noticed before but this time when he saw it really 'came together". Yeah, Okay.

So, I think people notice more than we think.

You know, I have not been thrilled with the place I have been living in the last two years, but I do have to admit that I am grateful it is a place where healthy eating and an active lifestyle are not only common, but almost expected. It is a 180 turn from where I used to live. Nobody talks about eating healthfully and exercising because everybody does it!

Even with my exercise hiatus the last couple of years I am still ridiculously active compared to the people in my previous town. Here, I would be put to shame at my most fit moment! (which I like :) It's motivating.)

Whenever people ask me how I lost the weight (they don't do it much anymore, but at first it was many times a day I was asked) I tell them "crystal meth". It shuts them right up! Everyone is looking for the silver bullet of weight loss, but tell anyone they actually have to do soemthign to make it happen, well, suddenly they lose interest.

At Christmas, I'll be going "home" to family for the first time in many years. I know all they are going to talk about is my weight- especially my mom. And truthfully, it's not a big deal to me anymore and the topic is pretty boring. I don't go around thinking all day that I lost 125 lbs- I think about fitness and working out, and nutrition, not about past successes. I'm probably going to have to make some pretty pointed comments before they get the hint that if they want to talk to me about weight loss, they are going to hear me go on some pretty long soliloquies about workouts, weightlifting, running, walking, eating clean, etc. That should do it!

I love that article! All my sister and my husband everrrrrrrrrrr talk about is diet and exercise. They monopolize every conversation everywhere we go, with people who so oviously dont care or want to hear about it. There are other things going on in the world! I am considering divorcing both of them they are so boring now!!!
