Shugga-Sugar

Cathlete
Good grief, am I the only one who wakes up and immediately wants something sweet? Is my blood sugar that low in the Am that I start craving the sweet stuff right away? x( Geez, the rest of my day is pretty good sugar-wise, I do not indulge at night either like some people, I just want it in the morning for some reason.

Do I need more willpower or what is it? I probably just need to limit the sugary stuff I allow in the house (which can be hard, we have guests here constantly)

I have started a green tea/chromium supplement, maybe that will help?

You're definitely not the only one. The first thing I had this morning was a little box of Milk Duds!:) For what it's worth, I am totally blaming that on the upcoming trick or treaters.

I am setting some 'sugar' goals for myself because I think I have really gotten out of control and, honestly, I don't know how to stop it. I just can't seem to make it through the day without sugar.

I admire you that you are able to go most of the day. I wish I could do that! I am probably the last person to be giving any advice(see above) but I think willpower has a lot to do with it. It's funny, I have the self-control and focus to work out everyday, but I can't kick the sugar habit. :-(

i have decided to just embrace my sugar addicition. i have given it up (any form of sugar) from time to time and i really don't notice a difference. i thought i would lose a ton of weight because i truly can (and do) eat a pound of M&Ms in one sitting (peanut or peanut butter). didn't lose an ounce. didn't really feel any different, either. i only end up feeling deprived when i give up sugar. the times i've given it up, i just wanted to see if i could. and i can. so, i'm not going to give up one of my only vices. i very rarely drink and when i do i can't drink more than two drinks without getting very drunk. i don't smoke. i don't do drugs. i eat candy. could be worse.

tneah, can't wait to get back to vegas in november and visit the M&M store again!!! :p

i know sugar is "the white devil" but i refuse to give up everything. i exercise and try to eat as clean as possible (with the exception of sugar) and, like i said, i don't have many vices. i just can't worry about every little thing. the most important thing for me was to make sure i could give it up. since i didn't have a problem giving it up for an extended period of time, i realized i wasn't truly addicted. that said, i just have no desire to stop having my sweets. i am sure the moral/food/exercise police will have something to say about that. i don't really care.

I love Lori and Pippa-my "Shugga" sisters!:7 Lorie, not sure if you read one of my posts about Linus in his aluminum cap:7 gosh, I love that cute little pup! Am going to start a Linus fan club.

I have some vices, I used to drink alot more than I do now-I limit the good stuff to once a week now instead of a few glasses of vino every night with my hubby, I drink peppermint tea instead. I was drinking to numb the hip pain, which I no longer have, so that took care of that.

It is the sugar. And you are so right, I too have given it up for long stretches and get angry that I cannot have it and it winds up being all I think about! Depriving myself never works, I end up obsessing about the things I cannot have. Strangely, I am not a dessert person, I can pass on pies, cakes and all of that. My yummies are M&M's}( , candy in general, jam, whipped cream-more the pure sugar stuff. You all made me feel much better, and I thank you. Now excuse me, I hear a siren's call coming from the M&M bowl!:)

Lorie?...there is an M&M store in Vegas?? http://www.emotihost.com/glass14/6.gif[/img]......I am the odd one though as when I first wake up I want something salty....http://www.emotihost.com/glass9/23.gif[/img]

Yep, its right smack dab on the strip!:9 No, I have not gone yet, but everytime I drive by I almost stop, good thing parking is so tough!

How was your trip Lorie? I hope everything you dreamed of and more, you got married right?

Actually, sodium is the white devil. Sugar is the white angel. It's good for you. Anyone who tells you otherwise was deprived as a child. Perhaps they didn't get that Cabbage Patch doll they wanted when they were wee ones and now they spend their days wandering the streets, wandering on the the Cathe forums, and knocking on people's doors, handing them leaflets on the evils of sugar. They try to lure you with the black licorice tasting yucky stevia ways threatening you with eternal damnation to indulging in the evil tasty shugga-sugar. If you want them to disappear sprinkle some splenda in the air and watch them turn to stone like medusa (or whatever the cheesy 70s flick was with Harry Hamlin).

:p

Carol!

Dave & I went to Vegas a couple years ago and I only bought ONE thing the whole time we were there. It was a keychain with my name written on different color M&M's that I bought at the M&M store! :7 The store is 4 floors! They have anything you can imagine and take a peek at those HUGE tubes filled with diff colors and types of M&M's! (Peanut M&M's are a downfall for me. I can sit and eat a whole bag!) Click on the link, then, do a slideshow of their place. Fun stuff!

<You crack me up! That is hysterical!>
Yes, the white demon, ruler in hell, will have that effect on you.

I used to have this problem when I was younger, but the older I get, the less appealing sugary foods are to me.

In any event, my sugar addiction never compared to that of my poor DH! He is constantly craving sugar. If I buy chocolate chip ice cream, he eats all the chocolate pieces out of it. If ANY sugar comes into the house, it doesn't last the night. I constantly worry about his developing type 2 diabetes. His blood sugar levels are beginning to indicate pre-diabetes. Of course, unlike Lorie (who is very slender) and others here, my DH is overweight. If he weren't overweight, to tell you the truth, I wouldn't care about the sugar thing. It's really the overweight that's hurting his health I think. And the sugar is causing the overweight.
