Shrinking Violets Check-in for February 25-28, 2007

Shrinking Violets Check-in

This was another good day. After my quiet time, I did Muscle Max as produced for the first time. I used the premixes for most of the Hardcore Series workouts when I did my first rotation this past September. It is fun to experience the whole workouts for the first time. I may get brave enough to give the Gym Styles a whirl later this month! I love the Hardcore Series. This is without a doubt some of Cathe’s best work. Muscle Max does not have the fun factor of Supersets, but I enjoyed it. I actually could have used heavier weights. Is it my imagination, or does Cathe go easy on biceps in this one? I love that this workout does not have endless reps. I enjoy the Slow and Heavy upper body workouts for the same reason. I prefer endurance workouts for my lower body and strength workouts for my upper body. I am still not a weight training fan, but this one is a keeper. I like the music, the set, and the pretty outfits. It is not as entertaining as a cardio workout or a circuit training workout, but it is enjoyable.

I am checking in early tonight so I can get to bed early. I am looking forward to trying IMAX3 for the first time in the morning. I flirted with premixes in September, but this will be my first time to do the whole workout. I had a dress rehearsal tonight and walked through each of the step combinations a few times. I love the fun choreography. IMAX2 has better music, but IMAX3 has more creative choreography. I love the pretty outfits too. Is it morning yet?! I am so ready to experience this one! I am planning to do the super high impact blasts on my rebounder. Speaking of which, I bounced on my rebounder tonight while my veggies were steaming.

My meals and snacks are packed for tomorrow. It is time to wrap up this day with a relaxing bubble bath.

Jean, I am definitely a morning glory girl all the way!

Maeghan, those weekend pounds will depart soon.

Wendy, Collage has outstanding customer service. If you do not like the workouts, you can return them within 30 days.

Kim, welcome back!

Kali, where are you? I miss you!

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

Good Morning Folks!:)

I have Stretch X and a step class on tap for today.

So I went ahead and ordered Budokon: Beginner's Practice from Collage this morning. I have the website for Karen Fowler's Yoga for Athletes saved. I decided not to order both at the same time. I will grab that one up at a later date....I'm trying to be good here so don't go enabling me girls!;) :p :7

Kim, WELCOME BACK! When did you get a TM!? I am sooo jealous! If we had the room I would have looked into buying a TM instead of joining the gym. I am hoping we will have room for one in our next house!

Heather, I love Collage. I have ordered sooooooo many work outs from them through the years! I had ordered a work out several months ago that I just did not like after trying it so I sent it back. I got my $ back no questions asked. Great service!:) I also like to keep an eye on what Deep Discount DVD has to offer. They have free shipping and you can get some great deals! Enjoy IMAX 3 today!!! It's KILLER!}( I haven't done it in ages but it's TOUGH TOUGH TOUGH! I think you'll enjoy it!;)

Shrinking Violets Check-in

Good morning! I am a sweaty ball of endorphins! After my quiet time this morning, I did the whole IMAX3 workout for the first time! I love the creative choreography in this one. Fun, fun, fun! :7 The blasts are fun too. When I started playing with this workout in September during my first Hardcore Series rotation, I was only able to do the shorter premixes. I also had to do most of the blasts on my rebounder. I did more of the blasts on the floor this time. I can jump the length of the step now! :7 I will likely do most of the blasts on my rebounder until I get closer to my goal weight to protect my joints, but I like to push myself every now and then just to test my progress and see what I can accomplish. Glory! I feel good. :7 I need a shower and some fuel, but I am higher than a kite.

Tammy (my shoe lovin’ check-in friend) would have gotten a kick out of watching me this morning. I used the recovery time to change shoes. The Nike Air Max shoes I thought would work for this one were not cushy enough. My feet were hurting during the warm-up, so I changed and changed again and again until I found the best fit for this workout. I used 5 different pairs of shoes for 10 intervals! My new Reebok cross training shoes appear to be the winner. I wore them when I was jumping the length of the step, and I am very impressed with the overall cushioning and support. This is exceedingly good news because they cost half of what Nike Shox do. The bad news is that Academy only had one pair in my size. I hope they are not being discontinued. It is so frustrating to find shoes I love then they are no longer available. Most people keep fitness journals to record the weights used for various workouts. Not me. I keep a shoe journal! :7 These Reebok crossing training shoes are my IMAX3 shoes. They match Cathe’s outfit too. ;-)

By the way, IMAX2 has some serious competition for my favorite interval workout. I seem to love the less popular workouts like Rhythmic Step over Step Blast, High Step Challenge over High Step Training, and Kick Max over Kick, Punch, & Crunch. I adore IMAX2 and IMAX3 equally, but the choreography in this one is more fun.

Tomorrow is my official weigh-in day for my calendar results. As of Saturday morning, I weighed exactly what I did on the first day of this month. :-( I am not looking forward to updating my calendar this month. Hopefully, the morning Hardcore Series workouts I have been doing this week will be good for at least a pound. I would like to see some measurable progress every month.

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

Hey girls!

Hope everyone has had a great day!! Mine has been pretty good, but leaving no time for exercising unless I do it late tonight. I know summer is on the way and desperately need to get my ducks in a row!

Wendy-I got my TM a couple of weeks ago and with my schedule have gotten on it but a few times. I actually jogged for 25 mins. straight Monday! I know that doesn't seem like much, but it is a major improvement for me! And girl, I don't have alot of room either and have put it in a crazy place, well of course it was dh's idea. We moved out our kitchen table and put it in the place of it. We never eat on it, but it is just kind of weird to me. He just doesn't want to carry the thing upstairs to our room!:) Eventually it will go else where, but at least it is near sight of the tv.HeHe!!:)

Can't wait to get the Amy BEnto's Hi/lo and Get ripped 1000! Does anyone have any comments on these workouts?

Hello to everyone !!

RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

So I went to my step class tonight and fell on my butt! :7 *waits to tell story until the laughter dulls to a low roar* We were just starting a segment where you are not allowed to use risers because it's agility training type stuff where you do alot of quick hoppy, jumpy type stuff from one to foot to the other between the floor and the step, etc. So anyway...within in the first 20 seconds of the segment I put my foot on the platform and WHEEEEEEEEEEEEE, out it came from under me and down I went on to my butt! OUCH! LOL Needless to say I did not use the platform for the rest of that segment! LOL I have done that kind of stuff before with out a problem but I may have been on a more slippery part of the floor and possibly the rubber on the bottom of my platform was worn. Who knows...but with the risers in it was fine. So yes, I may have a bruise on my backside and a small bruise on my ego but otherwise I am fine! I got right up and kept on going! :7 :p :D

RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

Wendy, that's terrible. Hope you are Ok. The gym may need to check out that situation. I know you are an employee and that makes it bad enough (work/comp type liablity if injuried), but if it had been a member and they got hurt that could mean a lawsuit.

Kim, glad to hear your are up and around. Congrats on the TM. Who cares where you put it as long as it is somewhere you can use it. How's your foot doing? All healed I hope.

Kali, I'm cracking up imagining you cracking up.

Heather, glad you found the shoes that work for you. Have you checked with other stores in other towns, to see if they have the ones you like in your size so you can get an extra pair or two?

Today I did not want to work out this morning. I did manage to go out for 35 min on my lunch and take the dog for a jog/walk.

I just got through reviewing my past 2 months of workouts. I worked out 24 out of 31 days for Jan. and 22 out of 28 for Feb. That means I average at least 5 workouts per week. That is a great accomplishment for me. Know if I could just see some results from my efforts.

Not sure what is in store for tomorrow, maybe bootcamp. I haven't done that in awhile.

Jean
