RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

Whose snowed in???? I will be by tonight.

Jean- I know when I go to a get together where there is alot of food, I can go crazy with everything. But I love BB pie, and COOKIES! CHOCOLATE CHIP cookies do me in everytime. I refuse to buy them. Brownies are evil too.

I am doing cardio today. I will bbl.

RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

Hi everyone. This morning I did Muscle Endurance with 2 minutes runs on the TM in between some of the sets. It was a great circuit workout. Got in over a mile on the TM and a great weightwork out. Something tells me I will be feeling it tomorrow.

RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone.

No plans here. I made DH one of his favorite dinners so we'll just spend it at home. We've been eating out too much lately.

RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

My quads are killing me from the DM premix/mish-mosh I did y'day! YIKES!}( And I have a spin class on tap for the morning! I think there is also a kickboxing class offered so I can do that if my leg won't allow for spin...I'll see what they feel like in the a.m.!}(

Meg, Nice run girl! ^5's! I normally run on saturdays but I will be taking my rest day on saturday this week so I will run on Sunday. I am hoping for 5 miles. :)

Jean, So what's your hubby's fave meal? I cooked tonight but no fave meal here...just the same old stuff. LOL The card I gave him was home-made though. Does that count for something? ;) :7

Shrinking Violets Check-in

Happy Valentine’s Day, Violets! I am halfway through the first 90 days of this year, and I am still in the race! Even after a small stumble earlier this week, I am still pleased with my progress.

I woke up at 4:00 a.m. to another cold morning. I did not want to get up and move, so I curled up under my favorite quilt with my Bible. I returned to my Breaking Free Bible study this morning.

Lent does not officially begin until next Wednesday, but I started a 40-day journey today. I am refocusing and changing my priorities for a season. I believe God is calling me to fast the big Cs (cheese, chocolate, and clutter) for 40 days. I am also turning my schedule upside down and bumping the other big C (my beloved Cathe workouts) to the evening hours. I want to put first things first and focus on Bible study and prayer during this season. It will be good for me to be still and know that He is God.

Debbie (my co-worker) gave me a Dove chocolate rose for Valentine’s Day. I was not tempted for a second. I have committed this season to the Lord. The chocolate will still be there in 40 days. I am also hoping to clear as much clutter as possible out of my home by the end of this 40 days. I have so much paper clutter. It is unbelievable. That will be my weekend project.

This was a good day with no cravings for dairy and no temptation to indulge in junk. I ate natural peanut butter on my Ezekiel bread tonight instead of cream cheese. Yummy!

I went to the club after work and jogged in the pool then did Rhythmic Step later tonight. It is going to be a big sacrifice and challenge for me to save my Cathe workouts for after work. I love starting my day with her! This workout was so much more intense tonight. I could tell that my heart rate was higher too. I am such a morning girl. This schedule change will be a good way to shock my body. I will definitely be ready to return to my morning Cathe workouts in April. I hope my body acclimates to evening workouts soon. Cathe energizes me earlier in the day, but she wiped me out tonight. I did perk up during the challenge. That is my favorite part of the workout! Fun, fun, fun!

I am very tired tonight. I want to start getting more sleep at night, and that will be a priority too. I started over again with my Bible reading in Genesis and hope to read as much as possible before Easter.

I am excited about this next chapter of my journey. Working out with Cathe after work will be my greatest challenge. As my pastor encourages me, I will do it as a discipline until it becomes a delight.

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

Good Morning Violets.:)

Heather, Good job on denying the temptation of the chocolate rose!:) I know what you mean about the paper...UGH! I can't stand it either! LOL

So today is spin or k'box at the gym providing I can get my car out of it's icey spot on the street. If I can't, there is also tomorrow evening's kbox class as well. I also have yoga on tap for today/tonight. My legs still hurt though so I may change that to stretch x instead!

Hope everyone is thawing out a bit!:)

RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

Good evening everyone. This morning was 45 min. of Hardcore extreme. I was hoping to get to spin class, but didn't. The Hard Rock Cafe here is Dallas is closing next month and my DD collects their bears, so I went there after work to get one before they run out.

Heather, I'm sure God will guide you through your changes. Keep up the good work.

Wendy, did you make the spin class or did the legs complain? As for favorite meal, it's porkchops cooked in the slow cooker with cream of mushroom soup then served over rice. It's one of the only way's that I will eat pork chops. I use 98% fat free soup to make it lighter and only use lean, boneless, thin cut, pork chops. I was hoping to go out to dinner, but staying in was fine.

How was everyone else's workouts today? Tomorrow will be some form of weights for me.

Jean

RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

Hey ladies.

Jean, Oooh that meal sounds yummy and I am not even a fan of pork chops!:9

I never made it out this morning. My car was iced in until DH came home after work and dug me out.

I ended being in a rotten mood most of the day as well as having an increasingly painful and nauseating headache. I laid on the couch until DS went down for his nap and then I napped for 2 hours while he napped. That's all I did until later on in the day when the headache finally started to dissapate....

At about 7:15 once DS was in bed for the night I ended up doing Cardio X and a segment of stretchmax. I feel 1000 times better!:+

Time for bed now!

Nighty night!

Shrinking Violets Check-in

I slept like a baby last night and woke up feeling better this morning. I was freezing my butt off in this cold weather, but I had enough energy to move. After my quiet time, I bounced on my rebounder. I just started doing a gentle workout in the morning and a challenging Cathe workout in the evening instead of the other way around. This is the second day of this upside down schedule, and I am wondering if I was out of my mind when I planned this. I can tell already that this is definitely not one of my better ideas! I do enjoy sleeping an hour later every morning. My body appreciates the extra sleep. I need to get up at 4:00 a.m. to have enough time for my Bible study, prayer time, Cathe workout, breakfast, and a shower. I was doing great last month until the ice storm hit. I got used to getting up later than usual every morning, going to work late (due to the icy roads), and going to bed later at night. I never got back on track with my sleep schedule and started neglecting my Bible study time and giving my best energy to my morning workout. My fitness journey is a big priority for me, but I do not want to start coasting spiritually. That will definitely backfire on me in the long run. My little run-in with food this week was a wake-up call. Ideally, I thrive when I have time for Bible study and a good workout in the morning. That will require me to discipline myself to get to bed early every night.

My cycle started this afternoon. That explains my PMS food fit and may also explain why I have been feeling blue for 48 hours. I could be withdrawing from cheese and chocolate or missing my morning workouts. I have fasted animal protein in the past for seasons of time and felt great. I do not eat enough chocolate to experience withdrawals, so it is more likely a combination of hormones and withdrawal from my morning endorphin high. Hopefully, I will be able to start getting to sleep early enough to wake up by 4:00 a.m. so I can enjoy my Bible study and my Cathe workout before work. I definitely do not want to start sliding down the slippery slope of depression, which is a concern for me. I pushed myself through Circuit Max tonight. It is amazing what I can do with sheer determination. I had no desire to exercise tonight. I stared at my DVDs and videos and had to talk myself into getting off my butt. I basically went through the motions and did not enjoy it. My body got a good workout, but my heart was just not into it.

Tomorrow is Friday! I am looking forward to the weekend.

Jean, great workout! I love Hardcore Extreme.

Wendy, I am sorry you felt so bad today. I hope you sleep well tonight and feel better in the morning.

Maeghan and Kali, where are you?

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

Hi guys! I am here Heather. Sorry I wasn't *here* yesterday. I had my niece and she was CRANKY!! She didn't feel well, so I only had a few minutes here and there to play yesterday. I am super busy today too. SO, my WO will probably be tonight. Not sure what.

I hope you beautiful ladies have a wonderful day! BBL!!

RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

Hi Maeghan, Wendy, & Heather, Kali, Sunnydelite and anyone else who drops by.

This morning was 15 min on the TM followed by PH. I was running short on time so I saved Bi's & Tri's for tomorrow after my spin class.

Hope everyone is staying warm. It was in the teens here this morning, which for us is really cold.

Jean

RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

Meg, You did...the...WHEEL! YIKES! Congrats! I will NEVER even ATTEMPT that I don't think! Heck, bridge is hard for me! ;)LOL

Y'day was Legs&Back and ARX. I was supposed to take a kb class at the gym in the evening but that didn't work out due to time constraints...oh well.

Today is my rest day. I'm taking it a day earlier. We are heading into New York to go to a family party at my sister's house. (Too bad you aren't closer to her, Meg!) That will take all day and into the night with the traveling time so I opted to rest today.

I will do a run and yoga tomorrow to make up for it. ;)

I'm tired...a friend came over last night so consequently I didn't get to bed until about 1am. That is soooo past my bedtime these days! I am likely to be wiped by the end of today.

Alrighty...I'm outta here...Catch you gals later! :)

RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

Good morning everyone.

I got up and went to spin class and then did Bi's & Tri's while I was there. Not much else on the agenda for today. Some laundry and cleaning, but that's every weekend.

Maeghan, nice jog on the progress. Doesn't it feel great when you feel the improvement?

Wendy, enjoy your trip to New York. Hope the weather has cleared up some so your travel with be smooth.

Hope everyone one else is doing well.

Shrinking Violets Check-in

Good morning, Violets! I bounced on my rebounder yesterday morning after my quiet time, enjoyed a peaceful day at work with my boss out of the office all day, and relaxed with the stability ball segments of Total Body Stretching last night.

I bounced on my rebounder this morning. I am planning to do Cardio Kicks later today. It is time to start Clutter Max. I do not even want to think about what is hiding in all my closets and drawers! It will be a lot of hard work, but it will feel good to clear the clutter out of here.

Maeghan, what on earth is a wheel?

Wendy, have fun in New York. I read your thread in Open Discussion. I personally believe it is better to enjoy small portions of real dairy instead of larger portions of the fat free stuff. Read the labels. When they remove the fat, they replace it with chemicals and other additives. I am a bit of a cheese snob. I eat only the best. An ounce of Cabot extra sharp white cheddar cheese is more satisfying to me than the cheap stuff and definitely more satisfying than the lower fat versions. In my opinion, cheese is a pleasure food like candy. There are better sources for calcium, so eat the most flavorful variety and savor every bite. It is good for me to give my body a break from dairy every now and then. I have a history of food allergies, and I have learned that the best way to prevent new food allergies is to rotate foods and not overeat anything. Balance, moderation, and variety are keys for me.

Jean, have a great day!

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

Heather, the wheel is basically a back bend. I used to do them with ease as a kid, but thought I would go for it last night. I couldn't straighten my arms totally, but I did it!

Wendy- have a nice time. I like the plow move. You?

Hi Jean! Good job!

I will BBL after WO and dinner.
