Should I get a trainer or keep doing Cathe?

I love Cathe's workouts but I was wondering if it is worth getting a trainer. I must admit that my diet is not that great all the time so this probobly has something to do with my weight. I want to lose about 10 pounds although I am still nursing a baby so I am still hungry all the time. WHat should I do?
THank you :)

I'd say keep doing Cathe. I lost a ton of weight doing her and portion control. I was working on the last few lbs when I got interrupted with---being pregnant.

If you need help with calorie control, maybe you could try Fit Day or something like that (www.fitday.com).

And be patient, you are still nursing after all and that won't go on forever. congrats that you only have 10 lbs to go!

Just my $.02

I am in the same boat as you. I am still nursing my 5 month old baby and am always hungry!! I could probably eat a whole pizza! I have about 10 pounds to go as well. This is my 3rd baby and I gained a whopping 50 lbs. I gained that much with each baby and lost it all within 6 months to 1 year. I can thank Cathe for that!!

I think focus on eating. I did WW (with extra "points") while nursing and was surprised at how I really needed to work on my portion control. When you sit down to eat, half of your plate should be fruits & veggies. If you are still hungry after a single portion of meat/complex carb (like brown rice), fill up on more veggies or fruit. Drink a lot of water! I know, you get SOOO hungry! Make healthy choices. Cottage cheese is a good quick snack. Snack on fruit and veggies!!

Hope this helps

A trainer probably would not help much with diet and nutrition. they mainly deal with exercises for you at their gym.

From what I have heard of personal trainers on this site, the hiring of a trainer seems tobe a hit and miss affair. Some seem OK, others are downright dubious, even dangerous and not all that effective.

I really can't think that there's a better trainer out there than Cathe.

Her form is great and she will help you acquire god form when lifting. Her cardio is intense and varied to help you cross train. All you have to do is pick any rotation form the many she has listed and start! What more would a personal trainer do for you?

In my opinion, a personal trainer would be a waste of money for you. You are the only one that is going to put the food in your mouth, not the trainer. You have to make good decisions with your food. Eat small portions throughout the day and stick with proteins, complex carbs, etc. Drink much water as well. Work out hard with Cathe, be disciplined with food and you will see the results you are looking forward to. Remember, it is all in your mind. You can do anything you set your mind to.

Trainers are definitely a hit or miss thing. And I wouldn't depend on them for a decent diet either--some of the trainers at my gym are fatter than most of the members.

But maybe a nutritionist would help? They're experts in diets & they could help you find something both effective & healthy.

I don't think it is an "either/or" question -- do BOTH! I love my Cathe workouts, but I also gained a lot of knowledge, motivation, and muscle from working with a trainer (and I am one myself now).

With Cathe -- you get a lot of good cardio and muscular endurance workouts. With a trainer, you can focus more on heavy lifting. I enjoyed it because I couldn't talk myself out of going to the gym on those days I didn't feel like it (because my trainer was waiting). It is the best $ I've spent in a while.

Having said that, be careful about getting a trainer who isn't a good one! See what their background is (education/certification). Get their opinions on diet/exercise. Watch them with other clients (are they paying attention to their clients form -- or chatting with their buddies?). I found my trainer by watching how he interacted with his clients (and he is also college educated in physiology). Do you like a drill seargent type? Or the more suble, encouraging type?

Good luck,
Shonie

I agree, if it's an option for you, do both! I started working with a trainer last year in conjunction with my Cathe workouts and I've learned so much and have had great results. You don't need to work with them 3 times a week, I did once a week sessions for six weeks and now I only make an appointment when I want to change up my program - it's more of a give and take now too, we bounce ideas off of each other to come up with something new that's appropriate to my goals.

I'm with Shonie on the heavy lifting - it's made all the difference.

As far as your trainer's caliber goes, it depends on your gym in a lot of ways. My gym only hires trainers that have degrees in their field together with certain types of certifications. As far as nutrition, I know that the trainers at my gym only give general advice, no specifics. They have a nutritionist on staff they refer you to. I've had great success with Leanness Lifestyle in changing my eating habits.

Anyway, I split my time between Cathe and the gym and I love it this way.

I think you might be better off seeing a nutritionist than a trainer. I don't think you need a trainer if you use Cathe's workouts and her rotations.
