Should I be taking Supplements????

I am 25 years old and I currently weight 135lb. I work out 4-6 days a week with Cathe's vidoes. I usually do an hour of cardio and then an hour of weights, and a 20 min of abs. After my workout I have a whey protein smoothie. I eat pretty healthy, except for the occasional splurg. I am almost to where I want to be with my body but I feel like im not getting any further. I was thinking about starting to take a fat burning supplement, but I have no idea what kind to consider since there are so many out there. I have never been the type to take diet pills, I always just thought that eating right and exercise was enough. But now I am seeing some results since i have "upped" my workout a bit and I want to see more. Any suggestions on a good supplement?

I would definitley not take a fat burning supplement. They tend to make you nervous and jittery because they contain stimulants. If you were to lose weight with them, it would most likely come back.

You may just want to try to shock your body with a differnt workout routine. Either upping you your weight load or doing some interval training, if you already are not. Or, introduce something completely different such as running or cycling.

Anyway, I would not recommend a fatburner. Good luck and keep us posted.

I definitely would not take supplements, either. I have tried them in the past and they made my heart feel funny and my body jittery. I can say that your workout program may be what needs to change, especially if you have been doing the same thing for a while. You have probably hit a plateau, but it is easy to fix. All you need to do is shock your body by incorporating different workouts or different styles of training. Another member (can't remember her name-sorry:)) said to add running or cycling. You could even add the elliptical and heavier weights or just another weight program. Perhaps you may be doing the same intensity in your aerobics now. Have you tried any intensity workouts like the IMAX series or a video like Bootcamp? Or, if you really want to change things up, take a couple of days off and then start something fresh.

This question would be a great question to ask in the open forum as well. Many of us who have worked out for a while have hit those workout plateaus and have found great ways to change it. The key is to change up your workout, increase weights, try new things, and stay motivated. You said you eat fairly well, so I would keep up the good work in that department. If you feel like you are dragging, try eating some naturally-derived sugar foods (apples, oranges, etc.)

If you do try supplements, be VERY careful. In my opinion, they aren't worth it. Good luck and stay strong:)

From personal experience, you may not be eating enough food. I was at a 6 month plateau when it hit me that when I upped my workouts was when I stopped losing.
I didn't ever stop gaining muscle tone/definition, but no weight was coming off. I started eating about 200 more calories/day and the weight started coming off again.

Thanks for the advice!!! I am pretty good about changing up my workout routine. i do something different everyday and every week is different as well. I have a bunch of cathe's DVD's and I have all of the ones they play on FIT TV recorded so I always have something different to do. Maybe I do need to eat some more. I will try to add more calories/day and see if anything changes.
