Should I be sore?

Hi Ladies, I've been working out with Cathe now for two months. I am no where near her weight in most the workouts but I believe I am lifting the weight that is right for me.

In the beginning I was sore almost everyday, I do feel I've gotten a lot stronger but I am just not sore any more.
I don't feel any pain. am I doing something wrong? Should I be sore?

When I first started I was so sore that it was almost painful. I was really out of shape then. As you start working out more, your body should be getting use to the activity. So I don't think you should be AS sore, but you will still get sore at times as the rest of us do, I am sure. If you do something new, you will sometimes feel it more, not a bad thing though. It is great knowing that your feeling it even a day later.

When i switched from the firm i was toatally aching. Cathe works you so much harder.
I am a little sore today only because i used max weight and couldn't finish some of the reps.
I stride to lift what she does . Excepy biceps my weak spot.
Try increasing weight like 10's instead of 8's on the 1st set. Then drop it back to what you have been using.
I actually went and bought 30 and 35's.
I only use them on like lat rows. Hopefully some day on biceps!!!!!!!
Goal.
I haven't updated my pic . Need someone to take some.
There is definitely a difference since i started cathe.
Good luck.
Let me know if this helps. As i am no expert. I just know this makes me sore.\

I don't get anywhere near as sore as I used to, now that I've been working out with Cathe for several months. At first, I was in a constant state of DOMS, could hardly move without wincing in pain... but now, I don't get sore very often, and when I do, it's not very intense. I'm still realizing strength gains, and pushing myself as hard as I can, but my body seems to be better adapted to my hard work. I'm not sure why this is, but it seems a lot of people experience a similar decrease in frequency, duration and intensity of DOMS over time. It makes me sad, because I really love being sore! :p

DOMS (delyad-onset muscle soreness)isn't necessary for you to get a good workout. It's more likely when changing to a different workout, or increasing weights, or increasing intensity in some other way.

A little bit of soreness can be comforting (you KNOW you got a good workout...I especially like glute soreness, LOL!), but too much soreness too regularly can be a sign that your muscles have suffered too much microtrauma (the small tears that are then repaired to make the muscle stronger), which can lead to injury or lack of strength gains (because your body isn't able to repair before you start breaking down again).

DOMS also varies from person to person. And if you have a diet rich in antioxidants, for example, you could have less DOMS than someone who doesn't.

All this to say that DOMS is not the best indicator of a good workout. Instead, focus on the last 2 reps of each set being hard to do, and try to get to a point where you couldn't go beyond the last rep of the last set of an exercise with good form.

If you have gotten a lot stronger, that's a better indicator of a good workout than is DOMS. Keep it up!
