Shorter workouts?

Hi Cathe!

My life has changed considerably since I first began doing your workouts. Because I am an author and because most of the major bookstores have now closed (Waldenbooks, B. Dalton, Borders, Books Galore, Bookstare, etc), life has become extremely busy -- working 6 different part time jobs now. Because of this, my workout time is necessarily short.

So my question is could you perhaps look at doing intense, shorter workouts for those of us who can't squeeze in an hour of time any more, but who are still advanced in their workouts? Also, I was wondering if you might consider the "fast-feet" type of workout, so as to exercise that different kind of fast-twitch muscle group. Reference is the book, Ready, Set, Go by Phil Campbell.

Thanks so much Cathe. I love the new workouts and I'm always pleased at the aesthetics and beauty you put into these advanced workouts.

Merry Christmas!

Well, I thought about starting a new thread but I will add a comment to this since it is similar in thought.

SNM, you have been saying the trend has been towards shorter workouts. I have gone through my Cathe library of workouts and look at the premixes and found you don't have many 20 minute options out there.

Most options are either well short of 20 minutes or nearing or over the 30 minute range (I am thinking of your Timesavers). The other part of this is these shorter premixes are not complete workouts. They don't include their own warm up or cool down. So you have to add these things which mostly likely takes it well above the 20 minutes not to mentioned it is cumbersome.

So I would like to suggest 5 to 6 20-minute complete workouts. The 6 workouts should/can appear on one disk. Some suggestions are:
one step (no weights)
one kickbox (no weights)
one sculpt (no or limited cardio)
one circuit
one interval
one high step
one using Cathe Fitness Equipment such as your medicine or sculpting balls.

I left off core and stretch because you do have 20 minute workouts in these categories.

Thanks

good ideas and I know what you mean - sometimes there just isn't enough time to do a workout!

Once in a while I'll skip all the DVDs and do some pushups, modified pull-ups on the Turbo Barre, and some ab work; I figure as long as I'm using my muscles that's something, plus it gets me breathing hard. A nice stretch completes my 15 minutes :)
