short rotations?

Happy Holidays All :)
I've been toying with the idea of trying a series of "mini" rotations but I need to know from you, the more experienced, if it's a good idea or not.
Is there any reason NOT to do a rotation for 4 weeks? I know most seem to be 8 weeks or longer, but I was thinking about something like:
4 weeks PowerHour/4 weeks MIS/4 weeks PS Series/4 weeks S&H
Is this okay? Or am I moving into a different weight workout too quickly for my muscles/body to respond positively?
Please give me your thoughts, and if anyone has tried this previously, your opinion on how you felt it worked for you.
Thanks as always for the education, Donna

I would love to hear a response on this subject as well! I, too, have been contemplating shorter rotations. Currently doing PS series with Cathe CTX series and her other cardios. Cathe, would love to hear your input on this!

RE: Do what YOU want!

Hi, Donna! I'll preface this by stating I do NOT follow any set rotation as others do, so with that in mind may I suggest that you do the Donna Rotation, i.e. what YOU want to do!

I don't think there are any hard and fast rules as to what makes up an ideal workout program; many, like myself, do not do rotations and we do just fine as long as we accomplish the appropriate amounts of cardio, muscle strengthening and flexibility work.

If you want to do a 4-week rotation, go ahead and do it! If you want to do a 12- or 16-week rotation, do that. You've exercised long enough and consistently enough to know when you're working hard and when you're not.

In fact, I'd bet whatever 4-week rotation you develop would be of great interest to the other members of this forum, given your phenomenal results so far!

Just my $.02 . . .

RE: Do what YOU want!

I asked this question of Cathe not long ago, but aimed it specifically toward my body type, ectomorph. For ectos, she stated that, in her experience, we get better results following one specific rotation for about 16 weeks. It makes perfect sense to me. I asked this becuz I had seen so many great success stories on this forum and the Firm forum, but I noticed that alot of the successes came from short rotations and some from long and some from no specific rotation at all. Anyhoo, that's just for ectos. Robin.

RE: Do what YOU want!

Thank you both for the great advice, and the thing that is so frustrating for me is that because I have such a great deal of weight to lose, I really have no idea what works "best" for me. You have to figure that ANY rotation works when you're 200lbs overweight, just the mere fact you're burning calories will shed the pounds, but as I inch closer to "normal" weight ranges, I don't want to "waste" any weeks, kind of like when Cathe says, "make each rep count!" I want to make each week in whatever rotation I do count for as much as it can, so looking back over my log, I can't truly judge what worked, what didn't, because of course at 350lbs, I was losing 6-8lbs/week, at 250lbs- 4-5lbs/week, and at 225lbs, maybe 3lbs/week, but that was because the cardio that burned 600 calories an hour at 325, burns fewer at 225! So I haven't gotten to a point where I can accurately judge my progress by PS Series does "x" for me, where S&H does "y" for me. But I can't go but so wrong trying it out, so unless someone has a horror story about 4-week rotations, I'm going to try it on for size.
Thanks as always for the input and advice,
Donna :)

I agree...

...with Aquajock, I don't follow a rotation at all. I run 4-5x/week and lift weights 3-4x/week. The only set rules I follow apply to my running, and that's because I'm training to race. For fitness in general, just be CONSISTENT. Cardio + weights + stretching + clean eating = success. And Donna, your success is AMAZING, so you must be doing something right! Continue to challenge yourself; if you find you're plateauing after doing PS for 6 weeks, change up your rotation. If it's still challenging, keep it up!

Best of luck to you in the new year
