When doing the shoulders portion of Power Hour, using the plate or even a lighter dumbbell for the first exercise my elbows are killing me.:-( They hurt worse than the slight burn I have in the shoulders. It hurts to the point that I almost can't do the side laterals because my elbows are in pain and don't want to bend for them. Should I just leave out the first exercise using the plate and jump in with the side laterals. Any advice is appreciated!!

Thanks

And sorry to keep bothering you wise people with all my form questions:+

Are you being careful that your arms aren't completely straight? I get pain in my elbows too if I have my arms straight. Be sure to keep a noticable bend in your elbows. If this still hurts, I would try to go really light and just pulse the weight at the top. Hope this helps!

My elbows hurt when I'm lifting too much weight. Going down in weight always corrects the problem for me. Also agree that it might be you're locking your elbows during the exercise without knowing it.

Best,
Liz

Hey Annette! First, your post lets me gush about Power Hour! Gosh I LOVE that workout. I stopped doing it for a while, but now it is all I want to do. My shoulder strength is NIL. I still have to use really light weights for all shoulder work. So don't feel like light is bad in this case....use a lighter plate for that first part...use whatever does not make it hurt. Just please do not overuse that shoulder.....I did a long time ago and it took FOREVER to get better. Now I use lighter weights, and I think my shoulders are defining nicely, slowly but nicely. Take care, Donna.
