I currently am using Ryka Enlight (I think) and need new shoes. Along with my inserts my PF is under control. what does anyone think about Nike shox or other shoes? I really also need the lateral support. Thanks.

Hi, Lala,

Does the Nike Shox have a cross-trainer designed specifically for that or is it a runner? The Shox running shoe is a great stability shoe which I find perfect for an orthotic user, since cushioned shoe offer too little support and motion control too much. One rule I live by is to use running shoes only for running and to get cross-trainers or aerobics shoes for strength and step and floor workouts just for the reason you cited. They are designed for workouts that move in all directions. Running shoes aren't. I HAVE observed runners running sideways and even backwards but not very often. :) I have found shoes to be the most important aspect of staying injury and PF free.
Good luck!

I'd really suggest going to a good running store and getting fitted. It was the best thing I did for my PF other than getting my insoles. I actually wear Asics Gel Nimbus running shoes even tho I do more cross training. But they fit my very wide width and high arches and gave me support for PF.
