Shelley:

Hey! You missed me, huh?!?!?!

I bet no-one else noticed I was gone......

I had to fly to London suddenly for a funeral and was gone 5 days, got back late Monday night. My brother's wife fought cancer valiantly for 3 years and faded so fast in the last month. She was only 38 and I turned 40 on the day of her funeral, this past week. I felt guilty for having a birthday and still being alive and so goddam healthy really.

I cried buckets for my brother who was so composed, so hospitable to all the friends and family who turned up to offer synpathy and so fabulous with his kids that they seemed hardly affected at all. The 2 kids she left behind are only 7 and 4. The little one hardly knew his Mum really, she was sick for most of his life. Very sad.

By the way, I do not recommend flying to London from Detroit (MI) via Dallas. To be avoided if you have the cash!

Thanks for remembering me and noticing I was gone.

Clare ;-)

But I'm glad you're back:)

Oh Clare, how sad! I hope your brother and his kids find the strength to get through this. Your brother seems like a wonderful father.

To all you wonderful ladies:

thank you so much for your kind words, for both my brother and his family and towards myself.

When you suffer from depression, you tend to think that nobody cares and nobody notices you, so it means a lot to me that in some small way I make a contribution here that is valued and that you missed me!

My family gave me a "fistful of dollars" (traveller's cheques), as I called them, so I will be getting something nice for myself just as soon s I figure out what it is that I want. My sister suggested, oh-so-casually, a haircut...! The woman has never been subtle!

You ladies rock!

Clare ;-)
