Shawn T's Insanity = CrossFit?

Hi!

I was just watching the teaser for Shawn T's new Insanity workouts, and it occurred to me that it's perhaps attempting to be a CrossFit program that you can do at home, with no equipment. I'm not sure if that's an accurate conclusion, as I've never taken a CrossFit class. But Insanity sure does look intense, and it's all bodyweight. No equipment necessary! Love that!!

I have CLX, and was thinking of doing a rotation with it when I finish STS. I don't intend to repeat the cardio workouts every week, as the program is designed. I get bored way too easy for that. I wonder if I can do a blend of CLX weights, and Shawn's Insanity? That may indeed be insane. For those of you familiar with Beachbody trainers and programs, do you have any comments or thoughts about that?

Cheers,
Sandra

It's more of an intense bootcamp style workout. You do really intense drills for time, and have rest periods. He does use body weight for muscle toning, but it's not really like Cross Fit.

I'm on the fence about this one. I know the exercises are short and intense and the teaser sent out with Tony's One on One has received rave reviews, but it does look insane (I guess that's why it's named that...)

OMG!!! Do you know when this is going to be released????? This is EXACTLY what i need right now. I"m so bored with my current workouts (weights and cardio). When this is available to preorder i'm doing so.

It's Beachbody and they do not do pre-orders - it will be released this summer some time. I know it comes with 10 workouts and a nutrition guide. There is a lot of buzz about it on the video fitness forums.

BB has really been catching my attention lately. I don't think I'll bite as I plan on preordering from Amy and I'm waiting for some new workouts from Chalene. I'm trying to pace myself. Plus I preordered Cathe's Shock Cardio so....walking away.....

I'm waiting to see the Insanity 2 month rotation, and how many rest days we get, and to preview the workouts to see how much bodyweight exercises there are. I might use CLX, Cathe, Debbie Siebers, or Jari Love... CLX has mostly high impact cardio, so I think it would be ok to use Insanity for the cardio days in the CLX rotation.

I've been thinking today how this would work out in rotation with STS. I think there could be some reduction in muscle gain and strength, but overall I think these 2 programs could be a really killer rotation.

I'm almost certain I'm going to buy this, I need more cardio choices at home anyway, and these look really intense. But I doubt I would just do the Insanity rotation without some weight work too.

If Fit44 sees this, did you get the preview disc yet with the Tony one on one training?

Thanks for the replies everyone! I know there isn't a lot of real information about the program yet, so it's hard to say for sure what is realistic. But thanks for your opinions.

So, the fact that it's 10 workouts is new information for me. Cool!! This may fit the bill exactly, until STS Shock Cardio is released. Love it!!

I just read somewhere, in true beachbody fashion, there will be the standard 10 disc set with some extras like food guides, and then a 13 dvd option as well. I wish i saved some of that info, one of them even listed out the workouts, if I find it again, I'll post it here.

ETA: Found it! This is copied from a post on the video fitness boards, so I can't guarantee the accuracy, but who could or would make this up?
Dig Deep/Fit Test
Plyometric Cardio Circuit
Cardio Power & Resistance
Cardio Recovery/Max Recovery
Pure Cardio/Cardio Abs
Cardio Abs
Core Cardio & Balance
Max Interval Circuit
Max Interval Plyometrics
Max Cardio Conditioning/Cardio Abs
Along with the DVD series, you will also receive a nutrition guide and a basic workout booklet to guide you thru the program.

I received the preview disc and did a summary of the exercises. If you pm me, I can email it to you. (I can't post it as I'm a BB Coach.)
