shaking during planks?

Hi all,
I'm wondering about how normal it is or isn't to shake during planks? My form is correct, no back swaying or bottom pushed up in the air, etc., but I just quake like a volcano! Kind of a tremble thing, and I try to hold on as long as possible, but at a few minutes into it, the shaking gets the best of me so I go back to my knees and I'm wondering if I should push myself through the shaking, attempting to strengthen my core a bit more each time, or continue to give in to the shaking assuming it's my body telling me I'm not ready for this yet?
Anyone else shake during them? Yet I'm just fine on the supine planks, no trembling at all?
Advice?
Thanks, Donna

Donna... ME TOO! I can hold the planks but I too shake like a chihuaha!! :) No shaking during supines, but face-down planks get me every time. I think it's because by the time we get to them, our upper body (at least mine) is already fatigued. Like the planks in S/H chest/back always give me the shakes because my chest & shoulders are so fatigued from the chest routine. Same in other tapes. My only advice is to keep on doing 'em... we'll get stronger & better at 'em!

We do planks in my classes and lots of my students shake. It just amazes me when Cathe is holding that position and just continues to talk like she is sitting on a couch having a conversation with us. PUSH-UPS too!! How does she do that? She's a MIGHTY woman!

RE: Me too!

Oh my goodness, thank you ALL!:)
I was starting to feel like something was wrong with me. I knew it wasn't a form issue, but I just couldn't figure out why I shake like that, and now I know I can continue to hold safely since it won't kill me and just push through it, hopefully gaining strength and endurance for planks.
Thanks again, next time I shake, I'll think of you guys :)

I did planks for the first time EVER Thursday (Circuit Max) and I shook like a leaf! My abs are still sore today, more sore than they've ever been with regular ab work. I used the baby-step (!) modification, too.

Ya, I shake with planks, too.

Also, when I'm working biceps with a barbell and my arms start to weaken, my legs start a-shakin' like Elvis. I become an utter "spaz" -- picture Jerry Lewis walking on a safety net. Unfortunately, this has happened to me several times at the gym -- how embarrassingly funny!

Like the other Jerry sings (that's Jerry Lee Lewis), there's a "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On"!
