self tanners

Hey everyone--I was just wondering if any of you use a self-tanning product. I decided a while back to stop frying myself in a tanning bed--nothing's worth that kind of skin damage to me!!! I tried Fake Bake last night and it actually worked--and looked great!! Does anyone know of a better one?? I wonder if Cathe and the crew use one of these--they all look amazing in those new muscle max pix!!!:) Not that I'm jealous or anything}( (ok, maybe just a little--or a lot!!)

I am a reformed sunbather. I never like tanning beds, tried it once. I live in Florida and have all my life so lying on the beach summer after summer has given me hideous sunspots on my back and chest. About 7 or 8 years ago I said enough is enough. I still go to the beach but SPF 45 is my best friend. I still let my legs and arms get a little sun.

Anyway, I love Neutrogena and Clarins self tanners. Estee Lauder makes a really good one too, I recieved Estee Lauder as a gift once and loved it.

Ashley, do a search in this forum and I think you'll find a lengthy discussion that was had here about 6 months or even a year ago about self tanners.
I'll say one thing, I think a tan probably does as much to make a fitness picture look great as anything else does. It makes the muscles stand out.

The whole self-tanning business was just tooooooo frustrating to me, so I gave up a couple of years ago.

My problems were that because I shave my legs, the self tan always left dark dots in my pores, (ugly spotted look), love swimming but the chlorine just washes the self tan off - and not evenly - and because Im an Fitness Instructor, my feet right up to the top of my ankles always ended up white due to the the sweat factor. My hands also never stayed brown because as a mother, they were constantly being washed.
I looked WORSE trying to be brown, than I was pasty white. It drove me nuts!!

Now, I just let my body tan naturally from the sun in the summer. I dont lay around baking, but all the summer activities allow the exposed parts of my body to tan a little and Im happy with that. In the winter (and Australia doesnt really have a BAD winter) I use a sun bed once a week for that 2 month yucky period of the year. To even things out, I use Natural Glow. (a pressed power that you brush on over your entire body if you want) and thats fantastic for a natural sun-kissed look. Natural Glow also needs a good scrub to get off so you can get a good couple of days looking brown after using that.

:)

I wish I had known about suntanning and tanning beds sooner. My daughter is a PA in a dermatoligist office and talks often about people coming in trying to fix sun damage. I baked in the sun and tanning bed for years. I like Neutrogena tanning foam that ads color so you can see where you put it. Exfoliate well first and maybe put lotion on knees and heels and palms first. I wear latex trow away gloves to do this or have DH do it. It works well.

Hi,

Just a question: when using a self-tanner is it just for a day of for severel days....? D. Dailey

I wondered if Cathe had used a self tanner in Muscle max too. I'm a pharmacist and we sell a myriad of products in the pharmacy. I have got an Ambre Solaire one with "light reflecting particles" and there are some good spray on ones as well.
