Sedona AZ suggestions

DH wants to take me on a post-cancer-treatment vacation. I told him I'd like to go to Sedona AZ and see the arts, the nature, and maybe even a spa or resort (!).

We don't quite have a "Nordstrom's budget" but don't want a "Walmart-budget" vacation either, if that makes sense.

Any suggestions for wellness spas, places/art galleries/tours are most welcome!

We've been to a few websites, but recommendations would be certainly appreciated!

Susan, I don't think you could have picked a more beautiful place to visit, especially at this time in your life. As you probably already know, not only does Sedona have some of the most breathtaking scenery, it is a "spiritual" mecca.....a place for the soul. The rocks are supposed to have mythical powers, and friends of mine have hiked there and felt "something". But anyway, I can not even begin to tell you how lovely it is....I went up there twice this past year, and each time have been blown away. When do you think you will go?? This time of year is great, not too hot, but mostly warm(70's or so), it is a popular destination for those of us stuck down in Phoenix as the temps get up past 100. There is one resort I have always wanted to visit....it is the Amara Creekside Resort....it is just spectacular, complete with a spa. One of my really good friends acutally moved up there recently and helps her husband run the Kokopelli Suites.
The Chamber of Commerce website is a wonderful source of info.....I just love being up there and walking around, uptown Sedona if full of shops and galleries. The Cowboy Club is a great place for lunch or dinner...I had a buffalo burger there(YUMMY). Don't miss the Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village....lots of interesting (and crazy pricey galleries, but it is fun to look!

Sedona is absolutely beautiful! It has so many wonderful places to just enjoy the views or go hiking and the weather is beautiful. I am also from Phoenix and love getting away from the heat and going up north. Flagstaff is also another beautiful place to go if you want to visit a cute little town. DH's parents live there so we go up quite a bit and I never really want to come home.

I live in Surprise, AZ and I have yet to go to Sedona but I can tell you that Christi Taylor live and teaches there. Also if you go to dogpile.com and pull up Sedona Az you will get a bunch of places to look at staying alot are pet friendly if you are interested in that. I hope you have a great time and post the pictures!!

Susan, I was to Sedona in November of 2004 and LOVED IT. As somebody said, it is SO spiritual that it took my breath away. There is a church (Catholic) built right into the mountain there....I wish I could remember off the top of my head the name of it. It's up the mountain and has SUCH a beautiful, peaceful view.

You may want to check out the Enchantment Resort, it usually isn't cheap but they often have promations or package deals that are decent priced. Sometimes you can find great deals on Travelocity, hotels.com or Expedia, especially if you are flexible with your dates.

The Enchantment website is www.enchantmentresort.com. The location is awesome, they have tons of activities, there also is a spa.

I am from the Phoenix area and Sedona is my favorite place to go. We try to get there at least for a mini vacation once or twice a year. It is kind of artsy and new age but also very energizing and inspiring.

Hi there Susan. I live in Prescott, Az, about 45 minutes away from Sedona. I've been there quite a bit. Most recently I stayed there while participating in the Sedona Half Marathon...a very inspiring run! Alot of the resorts, motels there are quite pricey. Two I would recommend that are nice without breaking the bank account are the Kokopelli Suites and the Radisson Poco Diablo Resort. While you're there check out the Pink Jeep tours for a fabulous tour of this georgous red rock country. Also visit Oak Creek Canyon- Slide Rock state park and bring a picnic lunch! For shopping you don't want to miss Tlaquepaque (say that 10 times!) Have fun!!!

ps- if you have a chance..visit Prescott, it's a cool tourist place!
and cheaper then Sedona!
 
Another Phoenician who is absolutely in love with Sedona! My dream is to live there one day (I'll have to win the lottery or rob a small bank first :) )

You might also want to check out Montezuma's castle which is a bit outside of Sedona but is a neat place to see.
