Secret Santa ideas?

I need some help with ideas for poems, gifts, etc. for my coworker secret santa this week. We don't start until Wednesday. (and the ideas that everyone gave for the teacher gifts were AWESOME!!!!Thanks, BTW!!!)

My person is a pretty typical Mom type (2 small kids). She likes scrapbooking, magazines, Mexican food, anything chocolate, Christmas music, children's books...

I want to be creative in how I give her the gifts, and we have a $25.00 maximum for what we can spend for the 5 days of spiriting! It is hard to do and still be creative.

I know that I can make fudge or other goodies for the chocolate, but I want to have a theme for the week and have little verses, poems or something to go with the little gifts.

Any ideas?

TIA, Jenn

Did ya'll make Christmas wish lists by any chance. Where I used to work we did Secret Santa and we each made a wish list which made it so much fun. We would list outrageous gifts that we knew the other person could not afford plus gifts that they could afford for a good gift on the last day.

Here is a sample of what my friend got. It was great. Her #1 wish list item was a trip to Italy. Her secret santa left her a toy plastic boat sitting on top of a package of spaghetti. It was so great. One of my wish lists was a night with a band member from Def Leppard (this was back in the 80s). My secret santa had a toy knight and put a cut out of the name Def Leppard on the sword. It was so funny.

That is a good idea!!

It made me think...since she likes Mexican food, I can give her a fabulous recipe for a Mexican dish, and then chips and salsa?

Other than that she didn't list anything outrageous on her wish list...

Any other ideas? Jenn

I always do something w/a holiday theme b/c there's so much out there for pretty much any price. Also most people don't generally buy themselves Xmas decorations except every once in a while, so it's nice to get people something they wouldn't get for themselves.

One thing I used to do is buy a bunch of holiday themed coffee mugs, a few bags of candy & some red & green cellophane. Then I'd just stuff the mugs full of candy & wrap them in cellophane, instant gifts for all the secretaries.

Anyway I'm getting off topic--$25 is a lot (ours is $10). I would get a nice holiday decoration from Bed Bath & Beyond or some such place--maybe some Yankee Mistletoe candles & a red or green table runner or something like that.

It really is fun. For someone who wants maybe a new car, you buy them a hot wheels car. The idea with the mug and candy is great. I think the chips and salsa and recipe cards are great ideas also. Does she have long hair or wear her hair pulled back? You buy her some scrunchies, headbands, etc. This may sound weird, but what about socks? I love socks and always need them. I wear them around the house constantly without shoes when it is cold, so they wear out fairly quickly. Can't think of anything else right now.

Well, all those scented bath gels and shower soaps always look so interesting, but I would never dream of buying them for myself because I'd rather save my money for more practical things. I am particularly fascinated by the ones that are supposed to smell like food; you know, sugar cookies and lemon chiffon and stuff. It would be delightful to receive something like that as a gift I think. And it would be a nice little indulgence for a busy Mom who doesn't have much time for herself.

If she likes chocolate and mexican food how about some Mexican hot chocolate,a cute mug and the recipe? This is from the book Christmas Cookies by Gooseberry Patch.
Mexican Hot Chocolate
3.3 oz. Tablet Mexican chocolate, diced
1 1/4 c. milk
1 1/4 c. half and half
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan.
Bring to a simmer, stirring until chocolate is melted and well
combined. Stir with a wisk until fluffy before serving.
Makes 2 1/2 cups.
Not exactly "clean" but oh so good.
