Well, I went ahead & did something I swore I'd never do again, which was buy a puppy from a breeder. After my last bad experience I realized my specs for a new dog were so narrow that this was the only way to go. Funny b/c I went through the same thing when I got Max--Cosmo was such a sissy after a bunch of home visits w/shelter dogs I just went w/a 3 lb pug puppy b/c I knew he wouldn't scare her.
Anyway, back to the new baby--she did have what breeders call "genetic defects," which basically means she's not a good candidate for breeding or showing, so she was very inexpensive (about $150 more than the shelter's "donation" fee). Of course I couldn't care less about said defects (basically a puggish underbite). She's a 6 mo. old puggle (old enough to stay in a crate for a few hours but young enough to be trainable). I was gonna name her Moxie (to go w/Max) but my neighbors across the street apparently thought of it first.
So I went w/Penny b/c of her color.
She's a little timid & most definitely submissive. Max is just fine w/her--I'm totally off his radar now. He's either sleeping or running laps w/her around my coffee table. I forgot how much fun it was to have a puppy! And he has a little company now during my 15 hour work days.
She, on the other hand, is a little love bug, & when Max isn't playing w/her she's snuggling up to me w/lots of puppy kisses.
I got her last Friday but didn't have time to put the pics on my picture trail until this morning. But the pics are up now if you want to see two of the cutest dogs in the world!
