Salad dressing for E2L

Rockerchick

Cathlete
I am looking for a vegetarian non dairy low cal dressing for the Eat to Live food plan. I do not like balsamic vinegar and tried red wine vinegar but it is too bitter. Any other ideas?

Thanks!

BTW - something in a bottle, I dont want to make my own unless it is super easy hehe

I've been using the dry packets (just herbs and spices) with equal parts water and olive oil, a clove of garlic, and a splash of lemon juice. If you go to Dr. Fuhrman's website, I believe he has the dry spices for sale and you can use them for salad dressing. I'm not sure how it tastes but I ordered it because I thought it looked good. I'm not a huge fan of vinegar either but I found it much more palatable(sp?) if I add some olive oil (not a lot though).

ETA: I have found NOTHING in a bottle that tastes as good as freshly made salad dressing (and believe me, I've looked). Plus the stuff in bottles usually has sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and a myriad of other non food items. Maybe someone else has found something....

You can dilute tahini with water or vegetable broth, and add lemon juice, seasonings, garlic and see if you like that nutty-tangy taste on salad.

another dressing recipe I have somehwere is for a fat-free soy vinaigrette with soy sauce, mirin (Japanese or chinese rice wine), sesame oil --if you're interested, let me know, and I will dig it up. It's salty/high in sodium, but good.

I toss salads with a little bit of EV Olive oil and rice wine vinegar. It's sort of sweet and very tasty!! Everyone else loves it, too.

This is out of the "Living Cuisine" cookbook. I have trouble finding salad dressing that I like that is not supper fatty but I like this one.

1 cup diced tomatoes
1/4 Cup Lemon Juice
2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon nama shoyu (I have trouble finding this item, it is a higher end raw food soy sauce so I just use tamari, Brag's or something else along those lines)
1 Tablesppon white miso
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1 Clove Garlic
1/4 Cup Fresh Parsley
1/4 Cup Fresh Basil
Pinch of sea salt to taste
Black Pepper to Taste

On page 214 of the book, Dr. Fuhrman has a list of "Commercial Dressings with Less than 20 Calories per 2 Tablespoon serving". I haven't tried any on the list (there are 17 total) so I can't say for sure, but there are some that sound (from the name) like they might be what you are looking for. Here are a few:

Rising Sun Farm Oil-Free Roasted Garlic Galore
Rising Sun Farm Oil-Free Sweet Pepper and Dried Tomato
Spectrum Naturals Sweet Onion and Garlic
Spectrum Naturals Toasted Sesame

Good luck.

ETA: If you don't have the book with you or can't find the list, and would like me to list the rest of them, let me know.:)

When I don't make my own salad dressing, I enjoy Consorzio's Rasberry and Balsamic Fat free Dressing (it is totally E2L friendly)....I also add chopped Walnuts to help absorb the phytonutrients in the salad (plus it tastes really good).:)

Wishbone makes Salad Spritzers. There is only one calorie per spray and it has good flavor!
