saddle bag area, YUK!!!

What can be done to get rid of that area? I eat clean, am currently following the STS 3 mo. rotation and still have a lump of yuk in the saddle bag area. If I had the money, I'd have it sucked out. I use to wear a sz 4, now a 6 because of this. I'll be 40 this year and that's what I hear from people when I talk about it, "oh, it's cause you're getting older, can't be helped", well I don't buy that and am not willing to accept it. Please help!!!

Depends on where you store your fat. I have saddlebags. I am 42, 114 ounds with 15% body fat and I think the majority of that fat is in my saddlebags. I had a trainer tell me in order to get rid of it I would have to either get down real low or have it sucked out. I am hoping to get my bf% down to 10% and then I will see where I am at. I know this is not very helpful but you are not alone.

isn't it just annoying?! I get so frustrated with all the hard work I do with working out, and it doesn't budge. I never had a huge problem with cellulite either, but about a year ago, it was like I just woke up one day and my legs were full of it. Can't get rid of that either. I refuse to even wear shorts it looks so gross. It was around the time I turned 38 I started going to lumpy pot! I HATE IT!!!!!

Does the STS set have any workouts on a high bench or step? Obviously, you can't spot-reduce, but high step (16 to 18 inches) worked wonders for toning up my thighs and glutes. I used to have thunder thighs, but now, even when my weight fluctuates it doesn't seem to come back to my outer thighs and butt with such a vengeance anymore.

I would suggest cardio at least 5 days per week; 2 days of HIIT involving running and jump rope, and 3 days of moderate to high intensity, i.e. IMAX-type workouts, kettlebells, bootcamp... Also, weighted step-ups, straight leg deadlifts, regular deadlifts. Go as heavy as you can for 8-10 reps. The most important factor is diet. You mentioned that you eat clean, which is good. You will have to eat 99.9% clean to budge the fat in that area. No processed food, lean protein and veggies eaten at 6 small meals throughout the day. Save your starchy carbs, meaning whole grain bread, brown rice, oats and sweet potatoes for the meals before and after your workout. It really is 80% diet.

I eat very clean, nothing processed at all, no bread at all, whole wheat or otherwise. I will agree tha it is 80% diet no doubt! But most women have fat someplace. Most of the women I know have a higher bf% than I do and yet they don't have saddlebags. They also don't have a ripped upper body and an eight pack you can actually see. Everyone is different that's for sure. I don't think I would trade my saddlebags for my eight pack any day of the week. I am anxious to see what the saddlebags will loook like when I get down to 10% body fat. I am sure they will be smaller, but my gues would be proportionatly smaller.

What has worked for me

I agree with all the suggestions on eating clean, cardio etc. But in addition this is what has worked for me. In addition to Cathe's leg routine I add a few moves that seem to work the legs in a different way. With leg weights (I use 5 lbs) either lay on your side or lean over a ball or bosu- an do leg raises focusing not on your side hip, but turn your body inward so that the saddlebag area is doing the lifting movement- try to do 50 each leg- and do them whenever you can. Then do donkey kicks and scissors with the weights. These seem to elongate and strengthen at the same time which seems to work better for me than the lunges and squats (although, I do those too) Good Luck!:D
