S&H or PS for adding ARM mass????

I just finished my S&H 4 week rotation and decided to go back to the PS series. Whoo! Going at a much faster pace again, really seems strange.

I did my triceps, chest and shoulders tonite and have a question for you.

Which series would you go with to BUILD MASS, as I am trying so hard to do ESPECIALLY with the upper body?? Should I stick with the S&H or can the PS series build mass just as well?

Or is there an entirely different workout that works to build mass in the upper body that anyone has had excellent results with?

It is really such an odd feeling going back to faster reps. I was homesick for my one minute breaks between sets tonite. ;)

Not Cathe, but I began to notice that I had a bicep when I was doing the PS series. I really like that one the best of them all. I liked S&H in that it uses the dumbbells more and I can go heavier it seems. If you were to combine the 2 series you might see results faster. I know for my chest I don't feel anything the next day with the PS but if I do S&H chest work, boy oh boy do I feel it the next day!! I really like those 1 min. breaks too and I honestly don't like doing endurance anymore but I force myself to do it occasionally.:+ ;-)

Hope you figure out what works for you, my vote is still the PS series in combo with S&H!!:7

Great question. I am looking for definition in my UB. I want it toned and still have the horrible jiggle! I started a three week SH rotation. I'm wondering if I should do the PS series after I finish then? Or the Pyramids? Thanks for any feedback!

Hi Jackie --

I think you are doing the right thing by mixing things up with S&H and PS. Both can build mass if you are using weights that are challenging for you. Rotating them will keep your body guessing!

I, personally, cannot stop singing the praises of the Intensity series. The Pyramid Upper Body workout in particular is fantastic for building upper body mass (it has the best bicep work ever). I have seen BIG changes in my body using the Intensity series.

Of course, you must make sure that you are getting the appropriate amount of protein and other nutrients in your diet to support building some mass. I used S&H and PS when they were first released but didn't really see a big gain in my upper body mass (although I DID get stronger). At that time, my diet was not very clean and I absolutely wasn't getting enough protein (or calories). I believe my diet kept me from really reaping the benefits of S&H and PS. I cleaned up my diet during the Intensity series and I'm amazed at the results.

So if you haven't already -- give the Intensity series a try.

I think I will give the Intensity series a try. I did the PLB the other day and I liked it, just working to keep the stability ball worked my abs SO much because I was laughing so hard at myself.

So, I am going to try the PUB and see how that goes. I have a VERY clean diet and have increased my protein. I have learned that eating some protein after strength training has helped tremendously. Thanks for all the replies.

Cathe's June 03 rotation was to build lean muscle mass, and it was 3 weeks of slow and heavy, with one week of using PS/MIS combined-pretty much all using just one body part per day.
