S&H Legs - Lunges?

l23

Cathlete
Does anyone else feel uncomfortable doing the slow stationary lunges in S&H? Maybe it's because my legs are short (I'm 5') because I cannot drag it out as long as she does (I think 6 seconds). It's frustrating that my timing is always off, so I just skip that part.
Am I the only one?

l23,
I also feel uncomfortable during those lunges. I feel like I don't have as great of a range of motion as Cathe and crew to drag it out for 6 seconds. I am 5'6" so I don't think it has anything to do with height. I have been trying to increase my range of motion with my last rotation and keeping my weights the same. I'll see if it worked next time I do S&H rotation on those lunges. They also make my arch of my back foot hurt.
Well, enough whining!
Happy Memorial Day.

Hey Cruncholi and 123, I think I might have a suggestion. Usually when I do stationary lunges (LL, PS, etc) I bring my rear leg way back. My front knee is at a right angle, but my back knee is more extended. During S&H, however, I find that I need to keep my back leg closer to me. This also helps my balance so I can keep steady all 6 counts. Also, make sure your back heel points straight up to the ceiling, not toward the back wall. This alleviated all pain I used to experience in my feet and calves. Hope this helps!

I agree with jillybean. I can't execute the S&H stationary lunges in good form with a wide stance. I've also tweaked the sequence; I do the first two sets with my left leg forward, then I do the last two sets with my right leg forward instead of alternating left and right legs between each set.
