Running my first 5k tomorrow... Advice?

I'll admit, I'm starting to get a little bit nervous! I've heard to go to bed early and to not drink more than a bottle of water in the morning... Any other tips or tricks?
Thanks!
Taylor

I always have my running clothes together and ready to go so I don't have to decide what I'm going to wear.

The most important advice I have though is to have FUN!!!

Good Luck!!

I've only ran 1 so far (second one is tomorrow night if all goes well) so I do not have any expert advice, but wanted to share what I did. For my first, I tried to start in the back. That way the pros could get started and be on their way, leaving me more room to adjust to everything going on. Once I started, I tried to find my regular pace and then just stick with it. It was kind of hard though because my adrenaline was going so fast that I couldn't tell what my pace was. I just tried to relax and have fun. Good luck tomorrow.

Good luck! Enjoy it and just have fun! I haven't run one yet, but if you can, take your music. It will help keep you at YOUR pace, so you don't try to keep up with the crowd! Let us know how it goes!

That's fantastic! I signed up for my first 5k for one month from now, and I would be really interested in hearing how you did and how the race was structured. I have to admit to being a little nervous about the logistics of it (even the little questions, like do you have to wear the race T-shirt that they give you, or can you wear your own clothes?)

Good luck, I did my 1st last weekend. I don't have a whole lot of advice, but have fun!!!!! Don't worry about everyone else. Find your pace and go with it. left.right.left.right lather.rinse.repeat. Have fun and good luck!!

Prepare to be addicted!! They are a lot of fun and I always end up signing up for another one while the endorphins are still swimming!

I also agree with TRYING to not run like a bat-out-of-hell at the start. It's hard not to!

You can wear whatever you like. From what I've seen, about 1/4-1/3 of the people wear the race shirt (this sometimes increases if it is a charity event), the others wear whatever, including t-shirts from other races they've been in.
