Running check-in

Hi everyone!

Anyone run or run/walk this past week? I got about 18 miles in. I have off today for Pres. Day so I'm about to do MIS and then go out for a 5-miler. I hope I can get 5 miles in after MIS! I signed up for another 5K in April, so I'll be working on my time over the next 2 months. My PR for a 5K is only 27:31 about a 9.5-min mile. So I may start doing Imax once a week to boost endurance. Had a terrific run on saturday after doing S/H legs & shoulders, but boy was I sore on sunday! I increased the weight for legs and I'm still feeling those plie squats! :) But I felt lots of power from my quads during hills.

Anyway, I wanted to congratulate Bobbi again on her 10K. Sounds like she and her sister had a terrific experience!

Hope everyone has great runs this week!

take care - marnie

Did you run after MIS? How did your legs feel? I almost always do my strength work after running and was wondering if your legs felt more fatigued after doing strength or if it helps to loosen them up a little.

I only got one 6 mile run/walk in this week. My three kids and I all got a stomach virus, so most of the week was spent either recovering myself or comforting my poor kids (plus mountains of laundry). On Friday I got all ready to run, went outside and felt the wind and chickened out. It really wasn't that bad outside - I think I was just feeling wimpy that day. I finally got a run in on Saturday - yay!

Hope everyone has a great week!

My best friend is on a diet and she convinced me to start walking with her. And I am so glad I did. We both have bad left knees which prevents us from doing a lot of running, and we are both only in our mid 20's, how sad is that? Anyway, last week we did about 16 miles and it just feels great. We get to talking and the time just flies by!

Well, I had a good run after MIS yesterday. My legs were sore during MIS though, still recovering from S/H legs. Probably should have skipped the lower body portion. I did 4 miles, and walked the last mile home. I hit the wall! :) My legs were really fatigued. But I'm training for a couple of upcoming 5Ks so I really wanted to get the miles in. Felt terrific afterwards.

Erica, I actually prefer doing my runs after strength work because my legs are nice and warmed & stretched and the blood is really flowing. So glad you got out and did those 6 miles, even with sick kids! Good for you.

Stacey, walking is so good for you! And a nice change of pace from doing step indoors. Running is tough on the knees, so you're smart for being safe about it.

Hope everyone has a great week!
