Running check-in?

Marnie

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure how you go about starting a "check-in" but I noticed several people here are interested in incorporating running into their routines, or already do. With spring coming soon (hopefully!) I was wondering if there was anyone else who may start running, or get back into running? If so, would you guys want to start a "check-in" ? I'm not even sure what this means :) but we could sort of "check-in" with each other each week, post questions, concerns, frustrations, how you rotate running with cathe tapes, nutrition issues, injury questions etc etc etc. ?

What do you think?

I think that would be great, Marnie! I have said it before and I'll say it again, running is my first love! I live in Tucson and it's the running season so I'll be endeavoring to run one race per month. Two in April! (Don't forget to sing up for The Race For the Cure when it's comes to a town near you!) The last in June, which is the last month to race before it's too hot. I used to run exclusively but now I cross-train with Cathe's most excellent workouts. I am 39 so this is my last year to run prior to becoming a "Master's runner"! I am currently running 3 or 4 days a week, including one long run (9 or more miles) 1-2 easy and 1 speed workout. Sunday is our Valentines' Day race and I'll be out there, having fun! I ran the Tucson Marathon in 1999 and hope to run another, for Team In Training to raise money for Daibetes or Lukemia Foundation in a few years. I run, therefore I am! :)

Marnie--I might be interested but it will probably be at least another month before I start running again. (Just started last year) The weather in Minnesota where I live is very unpredictable this time of year. But if you do start a check-in, I will join when I do start again.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-08-02 AT 03:26PM (Est)[p]I would definitely be interested. Running is definitely my favorite cardio activity. I just don't know how long I'll be running for now - I'm 13 weeks pregnant. I have cut down to run/walking 3-4 times a week (I had to edit this - originally it said 3-4 times a DAY!), 6 miles each time - weather permitting.

Cool! Like I said, I'm not sure how to even start one of these, but I guess once a week I'll post something called "Running Check-in" and everyone can post what they did that week, whether that means a walk, walk/run, long run, intervals, a marathon :) whaever you did! I'll also post a survey question. Betsy, please feel free to join in whenever you like! I don't want to be formal about this. Erica, congratulations!!! How wonderful for you. Let us know how your pregnancy progresses! And Bobbi, I love it - "I run, therefore I am!" Awesome! You live in a great running town. I live near san francisco which is also a great running area. I'm running a 5K at Big Sur in April (my birthday weekend actually) and I'm hoping to PR for my birthday! I run 4-5x/week. 4-5 miles on weekdays, one day I do hill repeats & a saturday long run which is anything over 5 miles :) (9 is my longest). I've had an injury since xmas (ITBS in left knee) which meant I had to lay off for a few weeks. That sucked but I'm almost recovered now. I do cardio kicks, imax, power circuit or circuit max once a week to boost my endurance.

Okay this is long enough... thanks for participating! And happy running...

Hi Marnie,

I'd like to check in too! I am a newbie runner, but I've been working out regularly with Cathe. My goal is to run a marathon in October, so I'm on my base mileage build up get used to running phase with more formal marathon training to begin in July. I am running 3/4 days a week, right now running for time and to maintain a certain heart rate, trying to lift twice a week and one day bike or Cathe. Tomorrow is my longest run yet (1 hour, 20 minutes in zone not including warm up and cool down) which for me is probably going to work out to be about 8 miles. I'm kinda SLOW!

Take care,
Zoelda
