Good morning, cheetahs!
Wendy—I’m glad the foam roller treatment is helping your knee. It can be painful, but it sure does get in there, dudn't it? No doubt you are going to be ready n’ rarin’ to go at that starting line on Sunday! Woooo-hoooo!...Our marathon starts at 8 am. I believe it will be televised. I am excited about all of it, including seeing Chicago for the first time, which has been on my list for awhile. My friend Donna is also running, and it is her first mary, too. The Beastie mantra is one that has worked for me for years. Always gets me to smile. J Now in addition to the other ones I use, I am going to add: "Don't pass out," which is what my student Emily advised me. Ahh, the sage wisdom of 8th graders. *lol*
Wendi—Sorry you’re going a little stir-crazy over there. You amaze me! If I had survived the schedule you just completed, I would probably spend three days in a catatonic state, and I would likely enjoy every minute of it! J Sounds like a lovely day with DSO—including the part about showing him up on the chinup bar. J Very impressive that you can just bust out six of ‘em!
Christine—love the photo. Looks like a great day. I think the iPhones take some pretty impressive pics. Yeah, I was a little skeeved by the gnats stuck on my neck, too. *lol* But the worst, IMO, is running into spider webs! Ick, ick, ICKKKKKK!
Carole—Wow, you are just en fuego with your runs and workouts! Bet that massage felt awesome! Thanks for not letting me hang my head J—it has been a challenging month work-wise. I’d hoped it would slow down some after BTS Night (as it usually does), but not quite. Even more reason to appreciate the weekend in Chitown! J J J
Karen—weather is so unpredictable. It will probably change 14 more times before the weekend. Fingers are crossed for good running weather for all of us.
Linda—I discovered the Balegas this summer; that is what I prefer to do my long runs in because they have a little extra cushioning, and they have a seamless toe, which I like. I guess my phone is a bit too heavy, too—it’s T-Mobile’s version of a Blackberry. Hope your rest day left you feeling refreshed. You were sure on-the-go this weekend.
Jackie—that is fantastic that you are going to for the marathon! For some reason, I thought you were referring to the half…Yeah, I know—the grandma shoes look really weird on display but better when they’re on the foot, if that makes any sense. But the comfort factor is what swayed me. Glad the hams & feet feel pretty good post-run…St. Jude’s, here you come! J
Shelly—any comments about the repainting efforts? I’m with you on lovin’ the fall weather.
Judy—a healthy alfredo spinach lasagna sounds like a keeper. Great job w/ your 7-miler. I think it’s good to vary the time of day that you run; otherwise I think you get into a hard-to-snap mindset where you think you CAN’T run at other times—or that you can’t run as strong.
I worked until 8:30 pm last night, and at that point, I could barely keep my eyes open, let alone pick up a dumbbell. J Today, however, I’m getting out on time and will get in my run, for sure.
I have to share...At work yesterday, I received another surprise. My co-workers presented me with this beautiful scrapbook, containing the emails I'd sent to my Livestrong supporters (basically, a variation on the blog entries), a few photos, and these wonderful, touching messages of good luck from my co-workers. My jaw hit the floor. I don’t know if it’s normal to feel emotional before your first marathon, but I feel like one big sap! They also gave me a $100 gift card to the spa where I get my massages! Can you believe it? The outpouring of support and generosity just blows me away.
Have a wonderful day, everyone!
