Cathlete
good morning everyone,

Well I am still on cloud nine from yesterdays race. It makes you feel good when you do better than you thought you could and when all that hard training pays off!!!again thanks to all of you for your support and encouragement. You all help people more than you know.

this morning I will run just 3.5miles with my dear friend marci just to loosen up the legs a bit. I will take tomorrow off as my rest day. I am a little sore, not much, over all I feel really good. I also need to do some upperbody work as I didnt do any last week. Now that the big race is over, I can concentrate on the smaller ones and getting a little more toned for the summer. I bought a new swimsuit for the summer, so I need to do some work!!! before wearing it.

hope everyone has a nice day!

Laura, I 'm so happy for you as well this morning. I think a 3 mile run is just want the Run Doctor ordered.

As for me. This morning I am going to do gymstyle chest and back and some sort of ab work. No run for me today. I have to say my legs feel fine this morning. I am really surprise at that. Last time, well the first time I ran ten miles my quads hurt for two days. Today they feel fine. I am also glad that after yesterday's run I fueled up properly and had no signs of dizzyness and nausua. The powerade did wonders. I read that if you run longer than one hour you should have a power drink. So I did and my body really felt the difference. Have a great run everyone. Karen

Laura - you go girl! Running the day after your half! I'm impressed!!

Karen - great job! I hope to be able to say that one day! I get so inspired by all the stories on the boards! I agree with Barb - it's great that you're getting down the mix of nutrition required to run properly.

I'm doing P90X Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps, Ab ripper X and then I'll do a 3/4 mile steady state run. I'm trying to work from home today - we'll see. If someone else calls in, I'll have to go in just because there are only 4 of us.

Good morning runners!

Laura...you should be on cloud nine. I'd think you'd be a little sore and 3.5 miles will be a good run for you. Yes, swimsuit season is certainly about here...:)

Karen...that is great you figured out the fueling for your body after the long run and are feeling good today!! By the way...I LOVE green onions...:)

I'll be doing P90X Chest, shoulders and triceps, some abs and a 4-5 mile run depending on how I feel...

Have a great day...:)

Carole - sounds like we have the same day planned - workout wise. Now I HAVE to run... *winks* (it's my preference actually)....

Yes it does Christine..:)..I have not done this P90X one in awhile and am looking forward to it..is your DH feeling better today?

I am, too - although I did it last week. I like this one. I'm feeling strong today, although Ab Ripper will be a challenge after the kick boxing yesterday!

DH is up and about today and says he feels much better. Thanks for asking.

Hi everyone,
Quick note to say I am a little off kilter today since it's usually a run day for me, but since I changed my long run to Sunday, today is weights. I'm planning to do MM (got up late. grrrr, so I have to do it later) and floor work maybe some walking if there's time.

I'm feeling less sore though, so yahooooooooo!

Christine -- glad you DH is feeling better. :) Kickboxing is definitely great for the abs, especially the obliques, I think. I did ab ripper yesterday -- yowza. It was my first time, definitely something I will work at.

Carole--have a great upper body workout. My plan is to start the P90x lean rotation after the race is over. Helps me to know there's something over the rainbow, so I don't deflate!!:) :)

Laura- glad you are feeling like going for a short run. I'm so happy for you that the day turned out well and you feel good.

great day to all who check in later.

Barb
:) :) :)

Well, I just got done my gymstyle workout and I'm happy to say that even though I haven't done this in sometime I was still able to do all 72 push up's on my toes with ease. I'm pretty happy about that since I hadn't done this in sometime. I thought I would have to go to my knees to finish them up. I'm feeling so good today for some reason. I think it does have to do with what I ate yesterday. I may even go on a short run today if I get back from Walmart in time.
I wish everyday I had this kind of energy. I guess it's just perfect that I have the energy to tackle the push up's.

Christine- Gald dh is feeling better. I really need to do more kickboxing. It always seems to be the last thing I ever want to grab though.

Carole- Have fun with your upperbody today and the run. It's a green onion omlet for lunch today.

Barb- I hate to wake up late. I totally understand the grrr part of it. Have fun with MM.

AMY and LAURA!!!!! You guys did so awesome!!! Amy, congratulations on your medal, that is VERY exciting!!! Laura, GREAT JOB on the PR...and in the rain!! You started frazzled but you knew what you needed to do, you relaxed and trusted your body! Great job! The slower than usual start probably helped you in the long run. I know if I do the first 1-2 miles real slow then my pace ends up being faster than average, so I more than make up for "lost time". Does not work in reverse! Start off too fast and I am doomed!

Again, GREAT JOB to both of you! Very impressive and motivating!

I just want to give you guys something to think about...if you tell yourself you're tired, you're going to feel even more tired. If you tell yourself it hurts, it will hurt even more (unless it is an injury, then you need to listen). Negative thoughts will produce negative results. Stay positive, even if it feels like a lie. No matter what, stay positive!

Sarah-very well-said, and this is exactly what I was saying to myself this morning before my workout (details lower). Thanks for sharing that. You're always filled with such wise words!

OK...I am, for the most part, am all caught up on posts.

Jess, Elaine, Laura, Karen and Amy----what else can I say that hasn't already been said to you ladies about your weekend performances. INCRECIBLE! MOTIVATING! MOVING! Great job to each of you on your individual races! WOO HOO! It really does invigorate you to just go out there, despite the rain or losing a packet or the pressure or the slow starts, and JUST DO IT! CLOUD NINE! GREAT JOB!

As for me...in a nutshell, camping was GREAT! FUN! BEAUTIFUL! RELAXING! The boys and I had such a great time. Setting up the tent was a challenge for me since it was windy and the tent kept taking off like a huge balloon! LOL. Imagine that picture, and then imagine how STEAMING MAD I was to look around me and see all the husband/wife duos setting up camp watching me struggle. GRRRRRRRRRR! I almost let it get to me, because every now and then I fall into the "woa, is me" mentality. BUT, I pushed on and got it done. The only other downside was that I caught something in my head and chest again. Not bad, just annoying. You know...lost my voice, filled-up nose, cough in my chest, crusty eyes in the AM...LOL. But, it was a fun weekend.

This morning, I planned on sleeping in to catch up on the late nights, and I ALMOST blew off my workout thinking that I was sick and that I'd just cough more and that I should rest and that it would hurt, etc. But, just like Sarah said above, I told myself that if I LET it hurt it will. SO..............I ran! 5 mile tempo run and I felt great! So glad I pushed on.

Ladies, have an awesome day! Thanks for all the motivation!

I'm working on getting the race list up-to-date. I'll post it ASAP!

Gayle

Jess ~ Checking in for Monday. No run today, my hamstrings are still tight & I try not to run 3 days in a row anyway to keep the injuries at bay. My brother is still here & we stayed up late watching a movie last night so I slept in a bit this morning. :) I needed it because I've been sleeping so crummy lately! I do plan on either doing Kick Max (I haven't done it yet since I just got it!) or a Pyramid workout later though!

Again, congrats to all of the great races this weekend!! I hope you're all feeling great!

Beautiful day & it's my dd's last day of Pre-K so when I pick her up we're off to the park!

Have a good one!

Elaine-I briefly looked at your St. George Training Schedule and it looks great! This week, I am going to sit down and do the same thing. I need to be ables to SEE where my long runs are, where the weights are, and where all my scheduled races fall into place.

OK...I've done a bit of work just now and below is the updated list of races that we all have scheduled. IF I MISSED something or somebody or IF I HAVE SOMETHING WRONG, please let me know! I like to stay on top to things and keep notes so I know who's got what coming up. (Laura & Jess, I don't have anything written down for you ladies, and I don't know if that's right or not.)

Gayle

Wow Gayle-Thanks for the race listings! I'm so glad that you had a great time this weekend and that you used running for yet another positive result, kicking a cold in the butt!

Laura-I am so proud of you for pushing through the negative feelings surrounding the start of your race and coming in under your goal! You rock!! Congratualtions again!

Amy-Glad that your foot is slowly healing and that the race didn't set it back any. I love the story about your Dad running so fast that even with all the extra mileage he still placed:)

Carole and Christine-Have fun on your twin workouts today! I did do that kickboxing mishmosh yesterday but added on the KM leg drills and I have serious butt doms today!

Elaine-I don't think that I ever told you how sweet it is that you climbed that monster hill, not once, but twice. Now that takes determination! Hills that you can't see the top of when you approach them are seriously daunting and can be so killer if you don't run smart!

Jess-Have fun with DD today and brother today and enjoy the new workout! Let us know how you fair with the blasts, Christine and I both plowed through those yesterday!

Karen-You are so fit!! 10 miles and tons of energy, 72 pushups with ease, are you actually Cathe under and assumed name?;-)

Barb-Glad that you soreness is subsiding! You'll get into the swing of this new schedule quickly and hey, your half is the day before my b-day! Cool:7

Today is GS BSB for me and probably some Mr. Yummypants along with Errandmax!
Have fun runners!

Hi everyone!
Gayle- Wow your race list is great. This is so nice of you to do for the rest of us! Thank you Thank you :) You're camping weekend sounded tiring but fun. Great work on overcoming the blahs and getting in a good tempo run.

Jess- you are quite ambitious and motivated to be planning a marathon in Sept. You sound like Sarah! I'm afraid I'm a big chicken when it comes to the Big M. I've done a few 18 milers and have run several Half Marathons and I'm still scared to commit to a full marathon. This check in is giving me encouragement and motivation though. Have fun with Kickmax--you will love it:)

Wendy- so when are you going to "take it to the street"??

Laura- You keep up the way you are going and you'll not only be able to "wear" that swimsuit- you'll be able to MODEL it. :*

Karen- Those sports drinks really make a huge difference on runs lasting more than an hour, you're training very smart and obviously it is showing.

Christine- how nice to be able to work from home. Sure wish I had that option some days! Have a great workout.

Carole- you have me contemplating getting the p90x workouts, Do you think they are worth the investment?

Barb- when I sleep late I just tell myself that it obviously was what my body needed and I'll do better for it. Can't help but feel frustrated though- I empathize!

Sarah- your comments re: negative thoughts was so on the mark!
Running is just as much of a mental challenge as well as a physical one. That's why I think we have something really special with this Check in. So far it seems to have helped inspire some awesome performances!

Well, I've slept late myself but now time to drag these ol bones out for a 5 mile recovery run, then some SJP. DH and I are hopefully going to a friends BBQ party tonight but there are thunderstorms threateningx(

ShellyC

Just checking back into say I swam a mile today instead of doing MM and will do MM tomorrow with my recovery run.

The pool was on my way during Errandmax, so I worked with the late getting up and got in some good crosstraining. It was fun to do something different.

Sarah--great words of advice. In the same spirit, I have this copied from a Cathe post awhile ago:
"As far as the mental toughness, I truly believe that life is full of curve balls and how we deal with them is more important then the curve ball itself. We all know the saying "you are what you eat"....likewise "you are what you think". I choose to think positive --Cathe Friedrich

Gayle--thanks for the updated list. You are organized. Grrrr but WTG on the tent set up!

Shelly-- have fun at your party. Thanks for the sympathy on sleeping late (thanks, too, Karen -- and great job on those pushups!!!!) hope you had a good recovery run.

Barb

Hello everyone!

I had some work I needed to catch up on yesterday and didn't get to bed until midnight. So, I'm tired today and I still have work to catch up on...x( I tell ya, there's nothing quite as fun as sitting in front of a computer writing dull testplans while your family is sleeping! x( x( x(

Thanks for the race list Gayle! I've got one more to add for now:

July 4, Pozo 5K, known as the HOTTEST LITTLE RACE AROUND. I think this is my most favorite 5K ever and I have had to miss it the past two years so I'm really looking forward to it!

I'm going to do PUB this morning and then hop on my elliptical this afternoon. I would rather go back to bed but that's not possible.

Have a great day everyone!
