Rotation Question

Hi everyone,

I have fairly recently (November 2002) started working out on a regular basis. I started with the Firm and then got introduced to a couple of websites (YaYa's and VF) and realized how much variety there was out there and went a little crazy!

Anyways, I have all of Cathe's stuff, and up until now I have just been doing whatever moves me, to try out all the workouts I got. I am leaving on vacation soon, and when I get back, would like to start a real rotation, like a big girl (hehe).

I was thinking about doing an 8 day rotation. Day's 1-6 a cardio from CTX plus 1 body part from S&H, plus abs every second day; day 7 would be endurance like PH, and day 8 rest. Does anyone know if there is a rotation like that out there, or could someone suggest the best way to combine them? (e.g., maybe All Step goes nicely with S&H back, or something like that).

p.s. my goal is to build strength while at the same time have lots of cardio to "fat blast". I have about 5-10 lbs that I'd like to still lose, so after blowing it on my vacation, I'll clean up my eating and go on the rotation to lose some weight.

Thanks!

Jodi

Hi Punky! Why 8 days? I think you have too much cardio first of all but that's just my opinion. You only have 5-10#s to lose; that's not much. I would combine 2 bodyparts per day from CTX & put in IMAX 1 or 2 (don't know if you have these) and the other 2 cardios I would do 10/10/10 & kickboxing to give you enough variety. The reason I suggest IMAX is because doing intervals will really blast your metabolism which will burn more fat. Why do you want to do S&H the same week as CTX? I personally wouldn't work it this way. I like to stick to one series at a time but again that's just me. Each series was designed for specific reasons. Try it my way if you want for 4 weeks and then I would go into a S&H rotation. Have a great vacation!! Best, Kathy;)

Hi Kathy,

Thanks for the suggestions - I will try to build in Imax. I wanted to follow the CTX rotation, but instead of doing the 1 body part/day of CTX, just use a Slow & Heavy body part instead. But if you think that might be too much, maybe I'll stick with the CTX rotation in its entirety and just add in an IMAX every 7 days. I'm not really stuck on having a 7 day rotation, so I'll do the entire CTX (6 days) + Imax + 1 day rest.

I thought other people had subbed in Slow & Heavy for the strength work of CTX but still used the CTX cardios, but maybe not.

Thanks again for your feedback!

Hi Jodi! You can do only the cardio if you want. Gosh there are so many different ways to work this. You can do 2 bodyparts a day from S&H just as they are & do 2 CTX cardios on another day (making it 60 min.) or just 1 CTX cardio or you can do 1 S&H bodypart & 1 CTX cardio. Are you confused yet? Your rotation would look like this:

Sat: S&H chest/back/abs
Sun: CTX cardio (your choice 30 or 60 min.)
Mon: S&H L&S/abs
Tues: CTX cardio (your choice 30 or 60 min.)
Wed: S&H tris/bis/abs
Thurs: CTX cardio (your choice 30 or 60 min.)

If you have the Intensity Series I would definitely incorporate the ab sections from Muscle Endurance, Cardio & Weights and PUB. I've seen much more muscularity in my mid-section. Anyway this is just one way to work it; mix it up & have fun! Best, Kathy:D

Hi Kathy - last question k? If I do 1 S&H Bodypart & 1 CTX Cardio each day, which would you combine together (i.e., all step best with xx body part, kickboxing best with xxx body part, etc.). Could you suggest a rotation like that? I might try CTX all on its own, but I'd also like an option with S&H.

Thanks for your suggestions!
