ROTATION QUESTION --- ?

Cathe, I'm sure you have answered a question like this before, but I am not successful in my searches so far . . .

My question is this -- should one stay on a regulated rotation, or just exercise as they feel like it from day to day? I keep searching for the "perfect" rotation, but some days I'm more in the mood for a certain type of exercise or exercise video than other days. I am beginning to wonder if this may be one of the reasons that I don't feel like I'm getting the results I want. Perhaps all the variation I put into my workouts is too much muscle confusion, and I need to be more regulated with myself and give my body a chance to respond . . . Is there any truth to my suspicion that excessive variation does not allow the muscles to respond in the right manner (i.e., always remaining in the swollen or bulky state instead of becoming sleek and defined). I don't work the same muscle group in the same way every day, either -- I do allow the 48 hours of rest in between, so I hope I phrased my question in a manner that you know what I'm talking about . . .
