Rotation philosophy

Hey Cathe!!! I have only recently been checking out the different rotations posted. You have some excellent ones posted! I usually just look at my DVD's and try to figure out what I'm going to do for the next week. I was wondering if you have a philosophy or theory you go by to give us a new rotation. I'm always interested in the science of exercise. Understanding it is a different issue!!:D Thanks for all you do!! peg

I would also like to know the answer. I too usually don't always follow a rotation. I just listen to what my body wants to do, but I do make sure I use weights at least 3-4 times a week.

Or course I'm not Cathe, but, most times she breaks down the rotation in the greeting right above the 1st week. She used to name them (i.e. Rock Bottoms, etc), but now she just labels them month and year.

I have noticed this: Around Dec, she'll have one that is mostly premixes because we're all so short on time. January usually brings a high cardio rotation to shake off holiday weight. Around May, she'll create a getting fit for summer one.

She definitely has a method to the workout rotation. I hope she pops in here soon and breaks it down for us.

Hi TLC...

I vary all my rotations to try to meet the needs of the diverse Cathletes doing them. Of course there is really no way for me to meet the goals of each person, each month, so I try to vary the rotations with slightly different focuses each month. Some will be heavy cardio, or heavy weights, light weights, timesaver workouts, circuit based workouts, all low impact, etc. Eventually a Cathlete will find one (or even a few) that works for them. Well, let me restate that, they will ALL work , it's just that some people have different preferences than others so you may find one (or a few) that could be a better fit for you.

That being said each rotation, regardless of it's specific workouts/objectives will always shock the system because it will be different. Changing exercise order/frequency/duration is paramount in seeing/getting results. No workout program should ever be repeated to the point of being predictable, becoming too easy, or having dread factor. Change is a must. It also doesn't have to be huge changes. Sometimes just changing the order of the exercises is enough.

When I make a rotation (outside of the specific nature that each rotation targets) it will always include the following conditioning: cardio workouts, weight workouts, and core workouts. That will be a given month to month because cardio/weights/core conditioning all work synergistically.

Hope that helps :)

Thank you so much for the info Cathe! Love you and all you do! I started the "Rock bottoms" rotation and am starting to see small changes. It is quite popular so I thought I would give it a go......it works, I'm walking funny, ok..limping a bit!!:( X10 still scares me but THANK YOU for only making us do 3 segments! You are the only one, through your workouts, that made noticable changes in my body.....and the way I see my body! You're the best.....thanks for spending time with me every morning. Peg

I love this and totally agree! I think the way I see my body is more important than the visible changes!

Honestly, there is no one else out there like Cathe - she is awesome!!! I just had to say that!!! :)
