marshmallow

hi Cathe, ok, so, I'm not really a major marshmallow, but I was wondering and hoping you could give me some advice or possibly recommend a rotation for somebody like me who is not quite a beginner, but not quite an intermediate exerciser either. I took a long break from the heavier work outs I was doing and switched to gardening, yoga, and bike riding for a while (we're talking years). Now that winter is here, 2 of thos 3 wouldn't really work anyway since it's too cold. I have a lot of your tapes and am starting to buy new DVD's too. Just purchased the STS series because it sounded inriquiging but that won't come for a while. I used to work out with the Pure Strength series along with a little cardio (2 X week treadmill for 30 -40 mins tops). I did see changes and gains (good gains) in my body and muscle tone. My buttt especially made great strides upward, so I was pretty happy about that. I have the CTX series, but only like the kickboxing tape. For some reason, I can't get into step. I get a little frustrated trying to follow the moves and usually give up. I have a super home gym with lots of floor space for aerobic type workouts, free weights, barbell, body bar, big ball, step, big weight bench you can lift legs and do chest work on. I've got several kickboxing tapes, yoga tapes, rubber band. Part of the reason I stopped was because I got bored I think, so I'm hoping for some magic formula to get me back to getting in shape and getting motivated again. Forgot to mention I gained for the first time in my life about 7 lbs. over the past 3 years. I used to eat anything I wanted (I'm not talking major overload here), then just ease off for a while and it was gone before I knew it, no harm done. Now, not sure that formula still works as I never get that easing off period anymore! Hubby & I enjoy our meals at home too much and he so hates to deprive himself.
I'm not as concerned with the weight as I am about the loss of muscle tone and increased flabbiness. I've developed a muffin top over my waistband which drives me nuts. I'm 5'6" and around 130lbs. Can you help with something like this? I'd be so grateful to get a good start back to the world of serious exercise while I wait for my new tapes which I hope will take me where I want to be, strong, buff, leaner, healthier. thanks, Lori
