Road Trip Questions

Shelley, I couldn't believe how much energy we all had for the kickboxing, our THIRD workout of the day! I was right next to Pinky and I remember that she was FIERCE. If she wasn't so tiny I might have been afraid that she was going to kick me accidentally ;-)
But for me, there was nothing like the Sat. morning endorphin surge that happened with the sound of everyone stepping in unison, underneath the "Big Ass" fans:7

Can't you just imagine the mischief we can get in to?

OMG, there is totally no reason to be intimidated! We all had such a fabulous time & we bonded immediately b/c of our mutual love of Cathe.......

Not only did we all come in a zillion shapes & sizes (well, maybe 110 shapes & sizes), we had diverse backgrounds, careers, educations, ethnicities, etc. etc. But we all had one thing in common!

Please don't feel insecure. We're all "average" in some ways & "special" in other ways. Good arms or good abs don't make a person better than another. It's what's on the inside that counts, & I think for some reason Cathe fans are really amazing, caring women. Coincidence? I don't think so.......

And yeah, it's freakin hot here in July. Also very humid.

PLUS - why would you consider NOT going to something that almost guarantees more fun than you've ever had in your life!!?? I've always said that from a purely selfish perspective - that is doing something just for me with no residual consequences for anone else like DH, kids, etc, - this was absolutely the BEST thing I've even done. You cannot imagine the energy levels in that gym! It astounding. And maybe we can all go to Traget this time and do pikes on the balls - but we'd set a Guiness record for the most Cathe fans gathered in one place and eager to do inverted jack-knife crunches!

Man, I'd love to go. I would have to figure out how that would work. I'm only 2.5 hours from her gym. Hmmmm.

Heather I never responded to any of your posts but I read them all the time. I LOVE reading your very enlightening words.

Don't worry about being in shape, looking the part--don't think about any of that. And this goes for any other woman who feels this way. We will be there to have fun, support each other and get out butts kicked.

I had a baby a few months ago and I am WAAAAAYYYYY out of shape, but I will be there looking forward to meeting you. Who knows you may be in better shape than a lot of us.

Get your $$ together, continue your w/o's and clean eating and by the grace of God we will see each other there whatever day the Roadtrip takes place, and have a good time.

Haydee

HAYDEEEEE!!! You're going?? Oh boy. Maybe I should rethink not going.

I also hear that A-Jock is going to make it. We could worship at the feet of the Queen of the Mish-Mosh!

Don't rethink. You may not even recognize me. My little man has left me with:

chi chos,(sp)
cottage cheese
back, butt, belly
and extra BOOBS x(

but mama LOVES her little man.

And ALL of this (body) will be there :D.

Wait - did nobody else catch that? Shelley - what do you mean you should re-think NOT going? Are you actually thinking about NOT going? Huh?

Shelley wouldn't miss it for the world.

I'm so pumped to go this year, especially now that I've read this thread. I just need to figure out how to swing the costs. Oh, and get a dang passport! I'd better file for that this week!

Shelley - you must come!!!! Hold a fund raiser if you have to! I'm going to go outside and make a thousand mini-snowmen on my front yard and try to sell them for 25 cents a piece (and when did the 'cent' symbol get removed from keyboards??). I'll put them on ebay.

Sandra
- going to find her mittens and a thousand Barbie-doll scarves

I haven't posted here in ages, but I just had to chime in on this thread. I went on the '05 Road Trip, was one of the infamous "512 Girls" (ahem, HI SHELLEY!!!!) and it was truly one of the bestest experiences of my life! I made so many awesome friends, and Cathe and her crew are the sweetest people ever. There were people of all shapes, sizes and abilities. I'm a total wimp, and look like a big nerd (true story), but I never felt like an outcast. Everyone was so welcoming! And the workouts were a-maz-ing!

Anyone who is feeling self-conscious and not sure about going on the trip, please don't worry about "fitting in"!!! GO on the road trip, have a great time - you will NOT regret it!!!

I am hoping to go on this road trip too - I cannot wait! :D

Hi Emily & Shelley,

I was really worried about not fitting in, when I read about Cathe's Road Trip this morning. Thank you for your kind words:- :)

Thank you so much!

More Road Trip Questions

Y’all have sold me on the Cathe Road Trip!!! I definitely want to go! Now I need to figure out how to get online during the day and register before it fills up. Hopefully, Cathe will give us a little notice before the registration goes online.

Good news! Flights from Dallas to Philadelphia are very affordable. How far is the airport from Cathe’s place? Will cab fare be outrageous? I do not want to rent a car.

Which of Cathe’s videos are comparable to the workouts y’all did last time? Cathe’s workouts are intense! I have done two in one day when I was feeling energetic, but I never dreamed of doing three!

Thanks for all the encouragement! :)

Bill, I appreciate your encouraging response. Speaking of women in amazing shape, you are definitely married to one! ;-)

Shelley, I want to go! I want to meet you too, so I hope you find a way to finance the trip.

Jean, thank you for sharing all the details of the last trip. I checked out your pictures. You look great!

Michele, you are a doll! :* I am expecting to see you there with barley donuts. By the way, I found the recipe for Texas sheet cake. If you do your cardio every day, I will give it to you! ;-)

Phyllis, we can face this together!

Lorrayne, your post made me laugh. :7 I have a target date for getting closer to my goal! It would take a miracle to get me in the shape I would like to be in by July or August!

Carole, I would love to meet you. I miss checking in with you and Susan and Sandra.

Amy, I would love to meet you too. Texas is hot. It was 80 degrees today. Central Texas is dry because we are not too close to the coast. My hair does much better in a less humid environment.

Mattea, you are so sweet. I love that avatar picture of you with Cathe. It always makes me smile! :)

Laura, what a sweet thing to write about all of us being average in some ways and special in other ways. :* This group is special in many ways. I agree that the members of this forum are very caring. I was actually intimated about joining. I am so glad I did!

Lorrie, I think I could actually do a pike on the ball at Target that does not roll around! ;-)

Haydee, I would be delighted to meet you! I have already started saving for this trip. Do you have baby pictures to share?

Sandra, I will buy a few of those snowmen. A snow cone would be nice too. Cherry please! :9 I did not realize that a passport was needed from Canada.

Emily, it is nice to “meet” you. Thank you for the encouragement.

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: More Road Trip Questions

Heather - Oh I'm so glad you decided to go! You won't regret it for one single second.

The airport is a fair drive, as I seem to recall. Plus the hotels we stayed at were a good drive from the gym, so maybe you can hook up with some others who arrive around the same time and rent a car together? I imagine a cab would be pretty pricey.

As for comparable workouts, I would say that the step workout was like SB or RS, but less complex. The sculpt workout was probably like a combo of a lot of the stuff from the new workouts using the ball and light dumbbells. The kickbox workout started out like KPC but then it kind of morphed into something like NONE of her other workouts, but it was so much fun. And the high step workout would be comparable to any of her HS workouts.:)

RE: More Road Trip Questions

The Philly airport is about 30 minutes from Mt. Laurel, where we stayed last year. Mt. Laurel is about 20 minutes from Cathe's gym in Glassboro. But as I understand it this year she'll be trying to get us hotels in Deptford, which is much closer to her club (5-10 minutes) and about the same distance from the airport.

Rapid Rover is a commuter shuttle service in the area, maybe a bunch of you could get one? When I lived there it was $15, but I'm sure that's changed.

And if anyone's coming in to the Newark airport let me know, I'll pick ya up if it's Thursday night (yeah I'm going early again this year & taking her Fri morning class ;) ).

RE: More Road Trip Questions

Ok, I'm not going. Somebody said push-ups on the stability ball...just kidding:+ I can't do those...not kidding:7

I'll be there! I must meet everybody!!!! Sounds like a blast. Thanks for all the info everybody
