Hello, Ladies.
I want to post here and introduce myself, and I’ll check-in as often as I can. However, getting on the internet isn’t always a simple matter for me.
I live in East Africa. (Yes, I’m American.) My husband and I are missionaries and we’ve been here for the last 9 years. Because of my location, videos (especially Cathe) are my life-line to working out. The “gym” at our local hotel is nothing to speak of, and the “roads” here give a whole new meaning to “off-road” for running and biking. So, I pretty much stick to videos.
I’m 34, almost 35, and have 3 kids: DS 6 (almost 7), DS 4, DD2. I’ve been a life-long exerciser: basketball and track in high-school, then running on my own through college. I started video exercising in ’95, then in 2000 was referred to Cathe by someone on the FIRM forums when I asked for something tougher. I still have all my FIRM videos but rarely use them (sometimes for nostalgia—they were a GREAT starting point!).
We’re going to be on furlough this fall and that’s how I get to go on the RT. Actually, that’s a great story in itself. When the announcement about the trip came through, I was out of the country and couldn’t pick up my email. My husband got the announcement, knew it was a once in a lifetime chance that our furlough would actually coincide with a RT, and got online to sign me up. He was as excited as I was that he actually got me registered with our crummy internet connections! He’s wonderfully supportive of my workouts in general, as demonstrated by his monumental efforts to get me on the RT.
I’ve been reading the RT check-ins as much as possible, and you’re a really sweet group. I can’t wait to meet you in August. I’ll try to check in when I can. I’d love to get to know you all before the trip!
