Road Trip Check In: Tuesday, April 17

LauraR

Cathlete
Hello, Ladies.

I want to post here and introduce myself, and I’ll check-in as often as I can. However, getting on the internet isn’t always a simple matter for me.

I live in East Africa. (Yes, I’m American.) My husband and I are missionaries and we’ve been here for the last 9 years. Because of my location, videos (especially Cathe) are my life-line to working out. The “gym” at our local hotel is nothing to speak of, and the “roads” here give a whole new meaning to “off-road” for running and biking. So, I pretty much stick to videos.

I’m 34, almost 35, and have 3 kids: DS 6 (almost 7), DS 4, DD2. I’ve been a life-long exerciser: basketball and track in high-school, then running on my own through college. I started video exercising in ’95, then in 2000 was referred to Cathe by someone on the FIRM forums when I asked for something tougher. I still have all my FIRM videos but rarely use them (sometimes for nostalgia—they were a GREAT starting point!).

We’re going to be on furlough this fall and that’s how I get to go on the RT. Actually, that’s a great story in itself. When the announcement about the trip came through, I was out of the country and couldn’t pick up my email. My husband got the announcement, knew it was a once in a lifetime chance that our furlough would actually coincide with a RT, and got online to sign me up. He was as excited as I was that he actually got me registered with our crummy internet connections! He’s wonderfully supportive of my workouts in general, as demonstrated by his monumental efforts to get me on the RT.

I’ve been reading the RT check-ins as much as possible, and you’re a really sweet group. I can’t wait to meet you in August. I’ll try to check in when I can. I’d love to get to know you all before the trip!

Laura

Wow, Laura, what thrill for you. Your DH sounds like a wonderfully thoughtful person! I look forward to getting to know you and seeing you in August. Welcome!

Today was ab hits and IMAX 2. IMAX2 feels like coming home to me. It's such a comfort workout.

I'm not very good with personals. I run out of time trying to address everyone. I do think that we are an interesting group with lots of interests. I hope to be back later

Laura, that's a neat story. I guess you were meant to go on the RT, huh? I'm looking forward to meeting you. Where will you be when you are on furlough?

Phyllis, I haven't done any of the IMAX's in a long time. Maybe I'll pull one out the next cardio day planned. Today should be PUB, but it all depends on what time we get out of the lawyer's office. We are revising our will. Whoopee. I'd much rather be working out.

Have a happy tax day everyone.

Good morning roadtrippers!

This morning I did Timesaver #1. This is the last week of my intermediate rotation, then on to the advanced part:D

Laura-That is an awesome story and so sweet of your DH to do that. Look forward to meeting you.

Phyllis-Enjoy IMAX 2. I wish I could say that is a comfort workout for me, lol.

Robin-Nice to have you back and hopefully well rested!

Randi-Sorry to hear about your ticket.

Carole-That is great about your nephew. I'm am always amazed when I see the skiers on the one ski thing using their arms. Does that make sense??

Hope everyone has a great day! Off to work.

Kara

Hi everyone! Yesterday's workout was MIS. I love that workout! I really heavied up and definitely felt worked at the end.

Laura - that is awesome that your husband signed you up for the RT without you knowing. He's a keeper for sure! Can't wait to meet you in August. :)

Phyllis, I have never done any of the Imax's. Actually, I take that back...I had Imax 2 once and did the warmup LOL. I think it was a little premature for me to be trying it but I've been scared ever since.

Robin - good for you for handling your will. We really need to do that to. I do have a living will though, which is so important too.

Hope everyone has an awesome day.

Tess

Good morning ladies of the RT! Happy Tuesday.

Laura nice to "meet" you. I don't know much about missions and furloughs. Your life spent doing such must be very interesting. Cathe is so cool because you can take her with you. Congrats on making exercise work for you!

Robin happy tax day to you! Are you still reading Dr. Oz's book? I have it on order at the library. Has the wind/rain subsided in Central PA? I hear the weekend should be more calm. I can't wait to jump on my new riding tractor and mow Sat.!

Phyllis good day! Imax 2 huh? Great workout! Cathe's ponytails are so cute. Have a great day.

Imax 3 this AM for me. DD and I are off to the Farm to pickup our "natural" foods order this afternoon. Bye!:)

Good morning everyone.

There is alot of flooding here in NY and they closed schools today due to it. So, I have my three boys home. I think I'll make it worth my while and make it a cleaning day for them!!

I won't be able to work out until later as I am having lunch with a good friend whom I haven't seen in a while. When I get back I plan to do KM and some cardio on the elliptical. Then tonight I have a jazz class and then I assistant teach a ballet class. Tonight, I collapse!

Laura... I am so glad that you will be coming on the trip. What an interesting life you have and what a wonderful way to make a difference in this world! Can't wait to meet you.

I have to get moving and start to organize the troops for cleaning duty, then shower. I'll be back later.

Have a wonderful, healthy day!

Hi RTers

Laura...nice to meet you! That is so cool your furlough will coincide with the RT !! I am a former Firmie myself. I like Cathe a lot more...:)

Phyllis...I like the music best of all in Imax2.

Kara...yes, that does make sense! I am always amazed at the things paraplegics can accomplish. Good luck with the advanced rotation.

Tess...thanks, I am also happy my nephew is getting involved in this sport. He seemed to be having a great time. Good job with MIS!

Amy...have fun with Imax3...that plyo jack interval kills me!

Vicki...thank you for your prayers. I am very proud of John (my nephew). I hope the weather has let up for you. B&G is a fun workout.

Belinda...sounds like we both had fun with GS yesterday!

Randi...I just got a speeding ticket last month for 10 miles over the limit. I had not had one since 1984. I took traffic school online and that will take it off your record.

Liann..thanks, and watching these guys play was very inspiring. I can rarely get my DH to workout, not that I have not tried, he does sometimes ride his bike with me when I run.

Robin...thanks about John. Hope the weather is better for you today. I don't like wind much at all!

I am off to do GS legs standing, abs and 40 min on my Elliptical.

Have a great day...:)

It seems to be a popular day for IMAX 2, I'm doing it as well today! I'm also planning on doing the floor work from legs + glutes as well, but we'll see what happers when I'm done with IMAX 2. Ususlly, by the end my legs are so tired they feel like jell-o. I guess we'll see what happens!!!

I'm off to another class, have a great day everyone!

Hi, Robin. I am now "officially" a Texan and will be based in DFW for my furlough. That's where we spend most of our time in the States. My husband is from there and our oversight is from there. However, I grew up in Arkansas. (I'll "woopig" with you, Lara!)

However, I'll be flying to the RT from CO!

When you're a missionary, "home" is a hard word to define! :)

Well, today was supposed to be Yoga this morning, but when I got to the gym, I found out the class had been cancelled. :( So, I ended up doing some cardio work on the elliptical machine and bike and then went to work. That will be it for the day as I have to work tonight...again. Somehow my 2-3 nights a week has turned into 4. :(

Laura - Welcome! That is awesome that your DH was able to get you registered for the Road trip. Amazing actually given the bad internet connection and the number of people trying to get a spot. It was definitely meant to be! :) You are going to have a great time!

Phyllis - Have fun with Imax 2 today. :) That was one of my first "big girl" workouts after having gotten Basic Step and Low Impact Step down.

Robin - hope you're able to fit in one of the Imax's with the trip to the lawyers. Sounds like a hoot. :/

Hi Kara!

Tess - I need to pull out MIS. I went DVD crazy a few months ago and that is one I bought but haven't tried yet.

Wow Vicki! You're day is jam packed! Have fun putting the boys to work!

Carol - Have fun with GS legs!

Belinda/Josie/Randi - Wow, looks like everyone is getting in on the Imax action! I think you have all inspired me to pull out Imax 2 for Thursday's workout. :)

Randi - You definitely got a good workout today!

Michele - Have fun with LIC! Love that workout!

Today I continued looking for workout clothes for the Roadtrip. I ended up with three outfits that I really wanted from several of the Cathe videos. The total though for all 3 tops and 3 bottoms is over $200!!! Sheesh... "Oh my Bod" and "Kos" is not cheap! Guess I am just going to have to decide on one outfit that I really want and let the rest of the clothes come from my special "Wal-Mart" and "Kohls" line. ;)

Hi everyone -- Haven't checked in since Thursday - was out of town over the weekend.

Laura: Welcome!! I'm so glad you'll be able to come to the RT -- I'd love to hear about life in Africa! I live in Dallas too and actually just spent the weekend in Hot Springs, Arkansas!!

Had a fun weekend but ate alot and no workouts! So I did Push/Pull and KPC yesterday and a 90 minute power yoga class today. Now my legs are fried! I am trying to get into kickboxing before the RT!

Liann: Don't buy too many of those cute outfits !! You'll show up people like me in my clothes from the "Target Boutique". Actually, I might try to get one or two nicer outfits too -- wouldn't want to show up in my 10-year old workout duds that I wear when noone else can see me!!

Colleen

Colleen - All of my workout outfits are practically rags! I am really rough on clothes! ;) I will probably only end up with one or 2 nicer outfits too. :)

Liann I need to buy 2 or 3 nicer outfits too! My workout outfits are not rags, but I want something cute for the RT! I never bought anything from Oh my Bod or Kos:-( Have fun shopping!

Belinda

Hey Phyllis, from what I recall, on the last RT, Cathe asked for people's favorite step moves, then she put together a rotation using them. I don't know if she'll do that this time, or stick with the answers she got in 2005.

We got home from the lawyer with plenty of time to do PUB. Yay! I cheated though, and skipped the pikes on the ball during the ab segment. I wish Cathe did those at the beginning of a workout, before I'm so fried I can barely do a plank, much less a pike.
