Road Trip Check-in for Saturday, April 14, 2007

BelovedHeather

Cathlete
Good morning, Road Trippers! I am sorry that I have been missing in action this week. I battle SAD, and it hit me hard this week. I do not usually struggle in April as this form of depression is triggered by lack of light. Of course, it does not usually snow in Texas in April either! The cold and dreary days that hit threw me for a loop. My body thought it was winter. I also had an extremely stressful week at work and crashed back down to reality after my Good Friday high. I was too tired to move by the end of each day, so I blessed my body by going to bed early instead of checking in. I woke up in the middle of the night a few times. Thankfully, I invested in a light box last year. After sitting in front of my light box every morning this week, I finally started feeling better last night. I thought I would actually sleep through the night. My neighbors had another wild party last night, so I have been up since 1:00 a.m.

I persevered and pushed myself through my workouts this week even though I was tired. It was not my best performance by far, but at least I did something. I started my 16-week fat blasting rotation Sunday morning with my beloved Rhythmic Step. I did the Butts and Guts abs and stretch segments Sunday evening, and I enjoyed my beloved Butts and Guts leg blast premix Monday morning.

Tuesday morning, I had a blast with the Body Max 2 cardio and weights premix. Fun, fun, fun! Body Max 2 is still the crown jewel of this new series. I love the choreography in this workout. My new Reebox cross training shoes did not feel good during the warm-up, so I returned to my Nike Shox Turn and Go cross training shoes. Perfect! I have special shoes for special workouts. It is funny how different choreography flows better and feels more comfortable with different shoes. I will be having a serious shoe crisis when it comes time to pack my bags for the Road Trip! Cathe will think I am a nut if I change shoes during one of her live classes! My butt was sore from the Butts and Guts leg blast premix, and my abs were super sore from the Butts and Guts abs that I did Sunday night. It was hard to do the Body Max 2 ab and core work Tuesday morning. I coasted through part of it.

I did Cardio Kicks Wednesday morning. After a long day at work, I was looking forward to jogging in the pool with Rebecca. I drove home during my lunch hour to pack my bag for the club and forgot my beach towel. I drove all the way home after work, grabbed my towel, and rushed to the club to meet Rebecca only to discover that management chose that day of all days to drain and resurface the pool. While I was at the club, I observed a few minutes of my friend’s cardio boot camp class. Oh my! She had the class outside in the parking lot doing high impact moves like jumping jacks on the pavement!

Thursday morning was Drill Max. Oh my! I have plenty of room to grow with this one. The push-ups and dips on the stability ball are still out of my league. I can do a few if I modify by resting the ball next to my sofa to keep it stable. I also modify the last drill by placing my hands on my step platform for the squat thrust move. That small modification makes a big difference.

I relaxed with Stretch Max yesterday morning. I am planning to do Kari Anderson’s DanceWorks this morning followed by Jen Carman’s Strength in Movement. Friday and Saturday are basically active recovery days for me.

I packed my meals and snacks every day this week, so my eating was very clean. I knew I was dealing with depression because I was extremely tired even after taking naps, exercising consistently, and eating clean all week. I also had no appetite and was extremely emotional and sensitive about everything.

I am hoping that Cathe finds time to film Rhythmic Step 2 this year! I am disappointed that she is no longer planning to film it with the 4-day split as originally planned. I also prefer the original 4-day split that was going to have 2 days of upper body and 2 days of lower body. I use parts of the CTX Series all the time, so I am sure I will enjoy the cardio segments if nothing else. I also love Push Pull and Supersets. If the new 4-day split has a similar format, I will enjoy it. I love the Slow and Heavy Series. Those are the only heavy weight training workouts I have ever enjoyed. I will get more use out of that series and the sequel when I get closer to my goal weight. My body sheds fat with cardio and circuit training. I am not sure about the boxing series. I will see what Cathe shows us in August. I definitely do not have room for a heavy bag. My workout room is my living room. I do not have a coffee table as it is. I am not selling the rest of my furniture! My living room is already decorated with a step, a high step, risers, weights, and a rebounder! As for the digital workouts, I will see what Cathe produces before I decide about them. I do not have an iPod yet and do not enjoy weight machines or cardio machines. It she does an outdoor walking or running workout, I might like it. Of course, Cathe has a way of making me love workouts I never dreamed I would enjoy!

Have a blessed Saturday!

Blessings,
Heather B.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us” (Hebrews 12:1 NIV).

Good Morning Ladies:)
Heather it sounds like you've done great this week eating clean and doing some kick butt workouts! We've missed you:) I hope you are feeling better.

I am so sore from PLB yesterday! I have no idea what cardio workout i'm going to do.
I spent too much money yesterday on a tanning package 112.00. I don't know what got in me too spend that much. It's actually a very nice tanning place called TanWorld. And I bought a cute dress from victorias secret!
I will let ya'll know what workout I did later;)

Good morning RT's.

Heather... It sounds like you really persevered and even though you were feeling bad this week you still took really good care of yourself. I would say that's a huge accomplishment in and of itself!! I hope you are feeling better and the days get "brighter" for you. Keep up the good work!

Randi... I told you to pick cardio yesterday!! LOL!! PLB is always a killer for me, but seriously, except for B&G I can't think of a better LB workout.

I am off to teach cardio sculpt this morning. When I come home I need to get some heavy upper body in so I am thinking of doing just the upper body from BM2 and using heavier than normal weights during my class ( usually during class I don't go very heavy because I have to teach, but today I will go more moderate then come right home and do heavy)

My eating has been okay, still struggling with the PB but I have decided that since it is PMS week I will wait until next week thhen at least get REALLY strict with how much I am eating... I am trying to find the Peanut Butter2 that Michelle mentioned which has less calories.

Gotta go get ready to teach, I need at least one more cup of coffee as I am not feeling "peppy" yet!! The thought of my own class is scaring me right now!! Haha

Have a wonderful and healthy day!

Vicki you're too funny LOL:)

Phyllis you're feeling my pain too! I havent done any workout yet because I went back to bed. But will do one when I get off work tonight.

Off to work:(
Have a great day
Randi

Good Morning RTers!
Today I did Karen Voight Yoga. This is not one of my favorites, but it was a rest day anyway!

Heather--I hope each day is better and better. My DS (19) suffers from depression and is now taking meds, but he still has sad days. I am also from TX. We have had some severe weather lately! I also do pool running and did B&G Leg Blast and CK this week....both tough for me!

Vicki--How was you class today?

Gin:)

Good moring RTers!

Today workout is going to be PLB plus Core Max 1!

Heather I hope you feel better today!

Have a nice day and workout!

Hi Roadtrippers. Today I went running. It's been since fall since I ran last so after only a half mile I was doing a lot of self-talk to keep going. I was able to finish 4 miles but it wasn't easy! Once our boating season starts, running is my major source of exercise for the weekends. Can't say I really love it, but it is a good way to see the countryside (or city) when we take the boat to various places.

Heather: Aside from not feeling at your best, you still managed a good week of workouts and eating. Way to persevere!

Randi: I have to confess I do the tanning too. I bought a package for $135 before I went to Aruba in Feb and I'm still going a couple times a week.

Vicki: I had my PB and cocoa in oatmeal for breakfast this morning and was able to control the urge to dip that spoon in the jar again. That's a minor victory for me. You'll have to report back to us how you like the PB2 stuff. Well thank goodness coffee doesn't have hardly any calories! What would we do then?

Phyllis: IMO, just getting the workout started is 90% of the effort. And how about Governor Corzine's car accident? I heard on the news today that they found the guy who caused it. NJ governors are not having the best time of it in these last few years!

Gin: Enjoy your rest day!

Hi Ladies ~ Is Everyone having a Great Weekend? :)

Well, today is a not so clean eating day. I finished Week 1 of my BFL Challenge...Yay :) Today is my Free Day, so far I had (2) Van. Creme Doughnuts & (2) 20 oz Coffee's w/ Extra Irish Creme. Just love them doughnuts, don't I? :9

On my first week I lost 2.5 pds and my measurements went down a tiny (I mean tiny) bit. My clothes feel looser also.

Thank you ~ My dog is a Eskimo/Sheltie Mix. His name is Diesel (too funny, you would think he would be a Rottie or something w/ that name....:)) He is a little over 2 year old now, and spoiled rotten. We also had a German Shep/Lab Mix, but I had to take him back to the shelter :( The worst thing I think I ever had to do. We had him for about 1 year, but I thought he would have a better home with someone else that had a yard for him to run in. Since we live in a townhouse, no yard...he didn't get nearly the amount of exercise he needed with us. I followed up w/ them, and was told she was adopted by a nice family less than 1 week later...:) That put a smile on my face, but I still miss her dearly. I feel like such a bad person. :(

Today is working on the house day, we are looking to sell in a few months. We are either going to buy something else, or more likely rent for a few years. We'll see...

Randi/Gin ~ I guess I better confess to...I just got back from tanning. I have a monthly unlimited package that I pay 34.99/mth for. I know it's horrible for your skin, but I love a nice tan. I only go a few days a week if that.

Hope you all have a great weekend~
Take Care
Jenn :)

Today was cleaning the hot tub day and cleaning the house. With that finished, I put in my workout. I started out doing Cardio Fusion and did the first 3-4 segments, then decided I didn't like it. I am going to trade that one and Drill Max. I just don't care for Drill Max at all! So then I added on the step portion of SJP and the stability ball abs from B&G. Not a very satisfying workout overall but I ended putting about 70-80 minutes do that was ok I guess. The Drill Max blasts just left me a bit grumpy. Wayyyyy too much impact for me right now. Yuck. Now I am hungry for lunch.

IvoryGorgon ~ You and me both, I find myself not reaching for Drill Max much at all. I think I might of did it 2 times. I do really like Cardio Fusion though. I tend to do up to the end of the Power Circuits.

Take Care,
Jenn
