RIDE - I did it!

I'm seriously considering purchasing a spin bike! Sounds like a great calorie burner! Congratulations!

Spinning

Congrats! Completing a spin workout is a total RUSH, isn't it? :D Since Cathe gave us CycleMax, I have gotten addicted to spin. I am one heck of a sweaty mess after a ride. Spinning is a terrific no impact high calorie burning workout that tones the legs and glutes nicely. I used to only spin once or twice a week, but I have gradually worked up to five days per week. That hour goes by real fast and I feel SO ENERGIZED afterward. :D

Can someone with bad knees do the workouts too? My one knee is really bad and in some of the clips I see the crew standing up, no way I can do that:(

Mare145, I would say, yes you can. That is the beauty of spin. NO IMPACT on those ol' joints. I am 54, and there are plenty of folks older than I at the classes I attend. I think that's pretty impressive. I much prefer spin because my knees are not happy with me when I put them through high impact workouts. As I understand it, we need to build up the quads for improved stability of the knees. Spin works all the muscles in the leg, hip and glute region hard. Don't let your knees deter you. Give spin a try if you ever get the chance. :)

Mare145 - I too have bad knees (climbing stairs in the mornings is difficult and painful - going down just as bad). Spinning works great for me. Try it, you'll love it!!

I have knee issues as well and recently starting spinning. The knee complains sometimes, so I have taken it slow. My legs are strong from finishing STS for the 2nd time this month, but still had to build up in time and the gears I use. I don't have Ride, but do have Cathe's Cycle Max and I have had to back off some in how much I stand and the gears used.

But can I tell it has been good for me, for legs and cardio workout, I can tell improvements in both. I am working towards enjoying mountain biking this summer by already having some biking conditioning before I am able to bike outside.
