Rhythmic Step

I am thinking of getting the original IMAX, and I see there are other workouts on this DVD. (Which is great, of course!) My question is, what is Rhythmic Step like? It sounds like it's kind of a dancy workout with difficult steps. Does it give you a tough cardio workout? I did a search for it, but didn't find what I was looking for. Thanks!

I believe it is a very good cardio workout when you are wanting a steady-state cardio day. The choreo is complex IMO. I did it the first time and more or less stumbled all over my step. I've had it for a good while but just did it for the fourth time about a week ago and for the first time it all fell into place. I did the workout almost without a hitch. That is the way it is with a lot of Cathe's w/o's for me. I'll struggle and stumble and then after a while, it will all click. It is an excellent step workout IMO. Don't let it scare you off the first few times you do it. Keep going, it'll all come together.

I really like RS. This is the workout of Cathe's on FitTV that got me hooked on her. I think that it is a great workout and I am sweating buckets after it. It might take a little while to master the moves, but once you do it is great. Get it!! You can't go wrong with 3 workouts for $50.

Another vote for RS. It's similar to Step Blast without the blasts. It IS challenging, but if it wasn't it would be boring. I still enjoy doing it, and I've had it a while. Plus you get MIC which is one of her toughest. And it's fun. In fact I'm more likely to do RS or MIC than I am to do Imax - I've only done that one twice.

Rythmic Step is my favorite! It was a little difficult to learn but now that I have it "mastered" it is oh so much fun!! To me, I like a workout that's a bit challenging. It makes me feel so accomplished when I finally get it down! :)

Thanks everyone! I definitely wanted a tough cardio workout, and now I know for sure I'm getting this DVD! Can't wait to get it!

It's still my favorite, and I preordered it way back when. It is a good cardio workout, I think because of 3 things - it's long, it has some little interval-time things built into it where you are propulsing many times as you learn the move, and the BPM is pretty fast. I can tell that it's pretty fast when I combine part of it with part of one of the newer ones. And yes, it's dancy and challenging. I feel GREAT when I finish it! Which is about once a week.

It's awesome, but be prepared to do it many times before getting the choreography down. I've been doing Cathe's workouts for years and this was one of the toughest for me to learn. But it's worth the time and effort invested!

I did this workout just the other day on an 8 inch step and I am pretty advanced and I was sweating buckets. It is definitely steady state cardio which I think is really important. The choreography is a little tricky at first but you will get it after 3 or 4 times. It is so much fun. I think I like it better than step blast which I also love. Go for it!
