Review of Barry's Bootcamp Chest and Abs

Positives:

He used pushups - which I like - bench press and flies all with a good count, not too fast or too slow

Abs - I did mine on the floor as I found out I HATE doing them on the step, it hurts my back for some reason, but I liked the ab exercises he chose to use

Level of difficulty = maybe a 7 - I would have liked to see him tack on an additional set of pushups, but that is easy to modify and do on your own.

Overall I enjoyed the chest and abs portion...

Negatives:

Once again you can hardly hear the instructor over the music and he never tells you how many reps to expect, so its hard to chose a weight to begin with. Next time I use this workout, I will use a stability instead of bench for the flies and bench press just to recruit more muscles and make it more challenging for myself.

I didn't do the cardio portion, chose to walk my dog instead but I did preview it and it looks really good :)

I agree with you in that it's hard to choose a weight when you don't know how many reps are ahead of you. Do any of the workouts tell you how many reps there are in each set?

I don't like that he does tricep push ups, and I think the one-armed push ups seem unsafe on a step of that height, but I do like this workout.

Rich is so freakin' hot. I may be a bit biased when it comes to this workout.

none of the workouts tell u how many reps. u just do the best you can for 1 minute. for bench press i use 15 pds. u usually have to drop down in weight.all his upper body are i minute high rep). for tricept pushups i do diamond pu from p90x
legs wide and arms like a diamon- fingers spread facing one another.

yes its very annoying he doesn't tell you how many reps you will be doing - these I should have previewed first, but now that I know how long I have to do each exercise - I can adjust next time.

I used 15s on the bench press and 12s on the flies - I will probably go up to 20s for bench press, drop down when I need to and do the flies on a stability ball or go up to 15s for flies as well. I rather push heavy and drop down when needed because I felt I could have easily pushed out more reps for each one....

I don't like the height of the bench for doing one arm up and one arm on the floor either. Next time I am modifying that one as well to using a medicine ball for one arm balancing on the ball and one on the ground. The height of the bench in this workout was just awkward for that one....

yes he is a hottie

:p :p that is drool! haha
